WaterGuard Prevents Moisture From Leaking Into Center Lovell, ME Basement
A homeowner in Center Lovell bought a home, but this home had a problem in the basement. It would gather a large amount of moisture whenever it would rain, which was leaving behind an unpleasant, musty smell. Looking to finish the basement and turn it into a livable space, the homeowner needed to waterproof the space. He searched online and found his solution, TC Hafford Basement Systems. He called us up and we were on the job! We began by digging out the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This new trench surrounding the basement is where we laid down our WaterGuard piping system. This system is buried beneath cement, and will capture water before it reaches the surface. The captured water is carried through the pipes to the sump, where we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will handle pushing the water up and out of the basement, never allowing it to reach the surface of the floor. Finally, to allow the homeowner to finish the space without needed to address the cold cement floor, we laid down our ThermalDry flooring tiles. These tiles are made of a hard plastic, being able to act as a floor, while also being insulated with foam on the bottoms to prevent the cold from reaching the surface. With this newly waterproofed basement, the homeowner can now easily waterproof the space without fear of water damage or mold growth!
CleanSpace Encapsulation Keeps Center Lovell, ME Crawlspace Dry
After living in their home for some years, this Center Lovell, ME homeowner thought it was time they did something about the musty smell coming from the crawlspace below their home. The smell was obviously due to moisture in the space and after seeing an ad in their paper, they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to see what we could do for them. They soon spoke with our sales rep. about their options and gave us the go-ahead to begin the waterproofing of their crawlspace. Once our installation crew made it out to the home, they were tasked with the integration of a vapor barrier below this home. This started with a SmartDrain being installed in the natural low point of the floor. This will take in any water collecting in the space and allow it a way to flow out of the home. Next, a Drainage Matting was laid across the entire floor of the crawlspace. This mat has holes throughout and sits just off the surface of the floor. The purpose this serves is to form channels to allow any water blocked by the finished barrier to have a path to follow toward the drain. Finally, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the interior of the space. Covering all of the walls as well as the matting over the floor, the CleanSpace will lock out any outside moisture that might have previously leaked into the space, protecting the crawlspace from the threat of moisture build-up. With their new vapor barrier in place, this homeowner will no longer experience the musty smell emanating from their crawlspace. The CleanSpace liner will keep out all of the unwanted moisture in the future!
SmartJack Supports Save Dipping Center Lovell, ME Cottage
With a cottage in Center Lovell, ME, this property owner had a problem with their foundation. Sitting on cinder blocks, the cottage had begun to sag over time, which could easily lead to structural damage. To avoid any further damage and to have the foundation repaired, the property owner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems after seeing us in the newspaper. We then dispatched our crew and got to work on the foundation. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on the improved foundation by digging out shallow holes and pouring engineered fill to create a firm place for the footings of the new supports. Resting on this now-solid ground, concrete footings were put in place every few feet below the rim joists of the crawlspace. Next, SmartJack piers were inserted between the footings and the beams above the crawlspace. The SmartJack piers can then be adjusted once they are all in place to realign the base of the cottage with where it used to rest. After these piers were adjusted properly, the old foundation blocks were removed, and the cottage was secure! With these new supports below their cottage, this property owner should never experience their floor drooping again. The SmartJack piers will hold this cottage firmly in place for many years to come!
Kennebunkport, ME, Basement and Crawlspace Gets Waterproofed
A home in Kennebunkport had quite a nasty crawlspace, as well as an occasionally wet basement, and the homeowner thought it was time to do something about it. Having heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from another satisfied customer, they quickly contacted us, and Peter Folsom went out to check out the property. Once the homeowner decided on what they wanted done, our team got to work. Working in the crawlspace, the team covered the floors and walls with CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System, which will keep any moisture from the ground locked out, as well as bacteria that might have tried to migrate into the crawlspace. The homeowner also had our team install a SaniDry XP, to keep the air humidity within reasonable levels; making the basement and crawlspace uninhabitable for mold. Over in the basement, the team installed a WaterGuard system to capture all the water coming into the basement through the ground and walls. This system was then connected to the SuperSump sump pump, which was put in to pump the water outside of the home.
Basement and attic Insulation in Kennebunkport, ME
A homeowner in Kennebunkport, Maine, recently underwent an energy audit that revealed significant insulation deficiencies throughout their home. Concerned about their energy efficiency and wanting a permanent fix, they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for a solution. Our team performed a thorough assessment, inspecting not only the attic but also the basement, where much of the heat loss was occurring.   We recommended Dr. Energy Saver spray foam for both the attic and basement. Spray foam creates a continuous air-seal that prevents drafts and eliminates cold air from penetrating these key areas. By insulating the basement, we were able to address the heat loss at the foundation level, which is a critical area often overlooked. Along with this, we suggested insulating the attic floor with TrueSoft cellulose to increase the home's ability to retain heat, and we used Zip Foam to air-seal the attic floor, ensuring no warm air would escape through gaps.     The homeowner was impressed by the comprehensive approach we provided, as it addressed the insulation issues from the top of the home all the way down to the basement. These solutions would not only make the house more comfortable year-round but also deliver lasting energy savings. The homeowner expressed great satisfaction with how much better insulated and energy-efficient their home had become for the long term.

A homeowner in Kennebunkport, Maine, reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a gutter estimate to protect their home from water damage. After performing a thorough assessment, our team determined that the most effective solution would be to install the Gutter Shutter system, complete with a Rain Chute. The Gutter Shutter system offers superior protection, it can handle more water than standard systems, preventing overflow and water damage to the home’s foundation and landscaping. Fixing Sagging Floors with SmartJacks
Since 1967, this Arundel, ME, homeowner has lived in their home, and over time they have noticed their floors sagging more and more. With braces rotting and not wanting the problem to get worse, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to book a free estimate. System Design Specialist John Wright met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a system that would meet the needs of the home and keep the homeowner safe.   The floor above needed to be braced and supported to level the floor and prevent sagging from happening in the future. SmartJacks were installed where needed with the addition of a new Supplemental Beam. SmartJacks can correct problems such as sloping and overly springy floors and out-of-level door frames. Because of the design of SmartJacks, they can be adjusted overtime as needed to compensate for changes in the home. SmartJacks are galvanized for corrosion resistance and can be used with the CleanSpace system if an area is plagued with high moisture or water issues. Now that the SmartJacks are installed, the homeowner is able to have a level floor without it feeling like a trampoline, and their home is no longer at risk of wall cracks or unsafe living conditions.
Leaking Crack In Stoneham, ME Sealed With FlexiSpan
A homeowner in Stoneham had a wet basement, thanks to a large crack forming on one of their walls. This could lead to water damage to the homeowner’s property, and they needed a way to prevent it. Searching online for a solution, they soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems. We arranged to inspect the crack, and we gave the homeowner a free estimate. They gave us the green light and we got started! We began by filling the crack with a layer of sealant. This layer was then covered over with a foam matting. This foam matting gives the finished structure flexibility. These two layers acts as an initial barrier which holds back some of the moisture, but it is not quite complete yet. We finished the project off with a final layer of sealant over the foam. This creates what is known as FlexiSpan. A crack sealing structure that is capable of bending and conforming to the crack in the event of shifting basement walls. With the FlexiSpan in place, this homeowner will no longer experience a leaking basement due to this crack!
CleanSpace Encapsulation Protects Stoneham, ME Crawlspace from Moisture
Living in Stoneham, ME, this new homeowner soon discovered a musty smell coming from the crawlspace of their home. After hearing from a family friend that TC Hafford Basement Systems could solve their problem, they called us right away! Our office staff set them up with a free estimate from one of our representatives and the homeowner was soon giving details on what we could do for them. They gave us the go-ahead and we got started! When the installation crew arrived, they were able to begin work on the crawlspace right away through one of the many entry points. To create a proper vapor barrier within the space, a Drainage Matting was first laid across the dirt floor of the space. This mat rests just above the surface of the floor and has many holes throughout, to allow for a smooth water flow. When water entering this space in the future is blocked by the vapor barrier, it will be able to flow back down through this mat, following the channels beneath to where it can drain into the ground. To complete the vapor barrier, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the interior of the crawlspace. This thin white sheet will lock out moisture that would have otherwise leaked into the space to continue to cause problems. With a vapor barrier in place below their home, this homeowner can rest assured their moisture problems are a thing of the past. The CleanSpace encapsulation will keep this crawlspace interior dry for years into the future.
