Stable Floors and a Dry Basement
This Lyman, ME homeowner has lived in their home for over 28 years and after that amount of time you get to know the home and it’s problems pretty well. The homeowner knew that they had moisture issues in their basement and didn’t want the issue to go unchecked too much longer. Looking to live in a healthy and safe home, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and booked a free estimate.   System Design Specialist Ron Bernard worked with the homeowner to design a waterproofing system for their home that would protect the health of the home and exceed the expectations of the homeowner. Mold has caused issues for the homeowner so getting the space dry was the first concern that needed to be addressed. WaterGuard was laid around the perimeter where needed and connected to a TripleSafe Sump Pump. WaterGuard captures water and channels it to the TripleSafe which is powerful enough to take large amounts of water and pump it out of the basement through a Buried Discharge Line. The Buried Discharge Line takes the water far enough from the home where it can no longer cause issues. To prevent ice buildup and ensure that the system works all year round, IceGuard was installed on the Discharge Line. In high traffic areas of the basement such as doorways, TrenchDrain was installed to capture as much water as possible and feed it to the TripleSafe Sump Pump. To finish up the waterproofing system, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to keep humidity at a safe level where mold wont grow and the homeowners belongings wont be damaged. The Sanidry Sedona drains to the TripleSafe so the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket of water and the dehumidifier will always run as it needs to.   To finish the homeowner’s basement system, SmartJacks were installed where needed to support the floor above and remove any bounce that the floors had. SmartJacks can be adjusted over time to meet the changing needs of the home and more can be added in the future if needed without interrupting the current system. Now the homeowner’s basement is dry, moisture free and the floors above stable. The home is not only healthier, but with yearly service and the TC Hafford Basement Systems warranty, the homeowner can live in their home with true peace of mind.
Fresh New Slab in Waterboro, ME
This Waterboro, ME, homeowner had been dealing with water coming up through their old slab, leaving puddles and ruining their belongings. The homeowner had no intuition of moving to a new home and wanted to keep their forever home in a safe condition. Ready to use their basement as it was intended, so they booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. The homeowner wanted to keep their basement dry all of the time, so they worked with System Design Specialist Brian Donnelly to design a system that would take care of all the waterproofing issues at once. Prepping The Area The first step in prepping the area for the new slab includes laying down Drainage Matting to create an inorganic barrier for the new slab to be poured on and protected. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter where needed to capture and channel ground water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe features two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup sump that protects the homeowner during a heavy rain event and power outage. The TripleSafe drains through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that takes the water away from the home. Maine gets cold in the winter, making it important to build a system that will work year-round, so IceGuard was installed on the Discharge line to prevent ice from building up and causing issues. The New Slab Now that the area was fully prepped, the brand new slab was poured. The homeowner is now able to use their basement as they want to, without the worry of water damaging their belongings or appliances. The new slab is crack-free, and the basement can be finished if the homeowner decides to.
East Waterboro, ME, Crawlspace Given Proper Lining
James, from East Waterboro, was having trouble with his crawlspace and basement. They were gathering water, which could lead to problem for the house if left alone. James contacted TC Hafford after he had heard about us from another customer. Our representative, Peter Folsom, inspected the trouble areas and then called for a crew to be sent in. The basement and crawlspace needed a few improvements before becoming waterproof, and the foreman of this job, Tony Hafford, made sure those improvements got implemented. The crawlspace was lined with a CleanSpace Drainage Matting, to allow for water to drain from the crawlspace. The basement was lined with a WaterGuard Drainage System to carry any water gathering in the basement to the newly installed TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe Sump Pump features, as the name suggest, three separate pumps, one primary pump, and two backup pumps for possible pump failure protection. These systems then all connect to the outside, to an IceGuard drain pipe. This style of pipe is designed to function and drain water even in freezing conditions.
Sump In East Waterboro, ME Basement Upgraded To TripleSafe
A homeowner from East Waterboro was having problems with his sump pump. Water would regularly come back up through the holes in the top of the pump, and flood his basement. Needing solve this problem before putting his house on the market, the homeowner heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems through a realtor and contacted us the next day. We had a representative over to the home in no time to inspect the basement and give a free estimate of what we could do to stop the flooding. We got to work by removing the old sump pump. This old pump wasn’t able to keep up with the amount of water needing to be pumped out of the basement. To keep water out of the basement, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump in the sump. The TripleSafe contains three pumps, each serving its own purpose. The first pump is the primary pump, used for the bulk of the water. The second pump is there in case the primary pump fails or cannot handle the water. Finally, the third pump is a battery backup pump, in case of a power outage. The TripleSafe sump pump will maintain a dry basement for this homeowner, no matter how hard the rain falls!
Hiram, ME Home Fitted With WaterGuard Before Going On The Market
A homeowner in Hiram was looking to put their home up for sale. But with the amount of water that would regularly gather within the basement during heavy rains, they would have a hard time finding a buyer. Taking to the internet to find a solution to their water problem, the homeowner soon discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems. They contacted us right away and we began work on the basement. We started by excavating the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This gave us a trench where we could lay our WaterGuard piping system. These pipes will capture any and all water as it tries to enter the basement through the walls or floor. The WaterGuard is then covered with loose rocks and cement to hide it beneath the floor without preventing it from functioning. The water captured by the WaterGuard is then guided to the sump, where we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will push all the gathered water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, this discharge line has a special IceGuard piece attached. The IceGuard is designed to allow water to exit the pipe should the lower end become blocked by ice or other debris. These three products working together will maintain a dry basement in this home for many years to come; Allowing the homeowner to sell the home without any issues involving a leaking basement.
Fryeburg, ME Crawlspace Protected From Moisture With CleanSpace
A couple in Fryeburg was having trouble with water gathering in their crawlspace. Whenever rain would fall, the dirt walls and floor didn’t stop the water from leaking in. They made their choice and we got to work! We began by installing a SmartDrain in the floor of the crawlspace. This will take the water gathering in the lowest point and allow it to drain out and away from the crawlspace. Next, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. A homeowner in Kennebunk was having trouble with their sump pump they had in their basement. It was able to handle light amounts of water, but once it started really raining, the pump would back up and flood the basement. This is when they called TC Hafford Basement Systems. We had a representative head to the home shortly after to give the homeowner a free estimate. They chose what they wanted done, and we had our crew get to work! We had to start by removing the old sump pump. It wasn’t going to be needed anymore, and could be thrown out. Gutter Shutter Installation in Kennebunk, ME
A homeowner in Kennebunk, Maine, contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to address some ongoing issues with his aging gutter system. He’d noticed water overflowing in certain areas and pooling around the foundation of his home, particularly during heavy rains. After a thorough inspection, we identified that the existing gutters were not only undersized for the job but had also sustained significant wear and tear over the years, resulting in rotted fascia and compromised water flow.   To provide a long-lasting solution, we recommended a full installation of the Gutter Shutter system, which is designed to prevent clogs and handle large volumes of rainwater effectively. In addition to the Gutter Shutter, we installed a valley controller—a vital component for homes with steep roof valleys like this one. The valley controller directs the increased water flow from these high-volume areas into the gutter, preventing overflow and ensuring that water is safely carried away from the foundation. Our team began by carefully removing and disposing of the existing gutter system, making sure not to damage the surrounding exterior. Next, we replaced the rotted fascia boards, providing a sturdy and secure base for the new gutter installation. We then mounted the Gutter Shutter system and positioned the valley controller to manage the water flow precisely.     Once the project was complete, the homeowner expressed relief at having a reliable, maintenance-free gutter system in place. He appreciated knowing that the new system would not only protect his foundation from water damage but also enhance the appearance and durability of his home’s exterior. With the Gutter Shutter and the valley controller working together, he can now rest easy, knowing his home is equipped to handle Maine’s heaviest downpours.
Kennebunk, Maine Crawl Space Repair
When a homeowner in Kennebunk, Maine, reached out with concerns about their damp, musty crawl space, our team quickly got to work to identify the root of the problem.   After conducting a thorough inspection, we discovered moisture accumulation due to poor drainage and inadequate sealing. We recommended a full crawl space encapsulation system to keep water and humidity at bay. The solution included installing CleanSpace vapor barrier, a durable liner that prevents moisture from entering the space. Beneath this, we laid drainage matting to direct any water away from the foundation. To safeguard the area from potential flooding, we installed a SmartSump system equipped with a WaterWatch alarm for leak detection and an UltraSump backup battery to ensure continuous operation during power outages. IceGuard® was also added to the discharge line to prevent freezing during Maine’s harsh winters, ensuring the system remains functional year-round.   With these installations, the homeowner's crawl space will remain dry, healthy, and free from mold or water damage.
