Water In Holden, ME, Basement Pumped Out The Right Way
A homeowner in Holden was experiencing water gathering in their basement. Normally, this is a common issue, however this homeowner owned a sump pump, which should be pumping water out of their basement. So the homeowner looked on the internet for a solution. TC Hafford was the solution they found, and we had a representative out to take a look shortly after being contacted. After identifying the problem, we got to work! We had to remove the old pump, in order to make room for the new one. The homeowner chose a SuperSump sump pump, which will take any gathered water and force it up and out of the basement. We then installed an UltraSump back-up battery. This battery will ensure water is still being pumped out of the house even if the power were to go out. This will guarantee a dry basement no matter the conditions!
Damp Crawl Space Issues Gone
For 24 years, this Orono, ME, crawl space has been damp and musty. Ready to fix the issues with their crawl space and protect their home, the homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Alan Noyes drove out to the home and worked with the homeowner to design an encapsulation system that would seal their basement up and keep moisture out.   To keep moisture out of the crawl space and get rid of the musty smell, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting needed to be installed. Drainage Matting is a tough, dimpled mat that creates a gap, protecting the CleanSpace and channels water to the low spot if a sump pump is installed. CleanSpace is a durable vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls and seals the space, protecting the crawl space from moisture and small critters that can otherwise cause damage. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed in the crawl space and connected to a Condensate Pump. The SaniDry Sedona keeps the humidity in the crawl space at a safe level, and with the addition of the Condensate Pump, the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket of water, and the SaniDry will always run when it is needed to. Now, the homeowner is happy as their crawl space is no longer damp and causing a musty smell to penetrate through their floors.   For more information on CleanSpace, follow this link for more information.
Orono, ME Basement Kept Dry with SuperSump Installation
A homeowner living in Orono, ME had a problem beginning to take root in their basement. Rainwater had begun to build up on their basement floor during rainfall. Looking to have this water-problem corrected as soon as possible, the homeowner looked online for a solution. They found our number and gave us a call to get the job done! Upon arriving, our crew began by installing a SuperSump sump pump in the floor of the basement. This device will take in the water gathering around it and force the water up and out of the home. The SuperSump can move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour up and out of the home through the PVC discharge line. Next, an UltraSump backup battery was atached to the SuperSump to enable it to continue operation even if the home loses power. Finally, outside the home, an IceGuard pipe segment was attached to the discharge line. This piece has angled holes built-in to allow for water blocked by ice or debris to exit the line before backing up and flooding the basement. With their new waterproofing system in place, this homeowner should never need to worry about their basement flooding again!
Caving Basement Wall In Stillwater, ME Corrected With Geo-Lock
A homeowner in Stillwater had a problem with his basement. The surrounding soil was applying so much pressure to the cinder-block walls that they were bowing inward. Fearing a cave in, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems. We had our representative inspect the basement and give the homeowner a free estimate. They selected what work they wanted done and we got to work! To restore the walls to their original positions, we needed to install Geo-Lock Wall Anchors. To do so, we drilled holes into the walls evenly spaced along the walls, inlaying poles through each hole. On the exterior of the home, we dug vertical holes into the soil, aligned perpendicular with the holes dug through the walls. Here, we inserted flat plates that were screwed to the end of the inserted poles. We then filled the holes in with the dirt taken out. Finally, we secured plates to the interior ends of the poles, tightening them against the walls. With these Geo-Lock Anchors in place, this homeowner no longer needs to fear a cave in.
WaterGaurd Helps Finish Old Town, ME Basement
Scott from Old Town was in the market for some professional basement waterproofing. He had been looking to have his basement finished, but water flooding his basement during heavy rains was preventing any progress. Seeking a way to help prevent the flooding, Scott took to the internet. He soon came across TC Hafford Basement Systems, who he called right away to set up a meeting with a representative. We took a look, and gave the homeowner a free estimate. They chose what work they wanted done, and we had our crew get to work. We began by digging up the interior perimeter of the basement floor and removing the debris. This created a trench for us to install our WaterGuard pipe system. These pipes are specially designed to catch water as it tries to enter the basement through the walls or floor. Guiding the water out of the basement through the sump. This system was then covered over with loose rocks and cement to conceal it under the floor without hurting functionality. Now Scott can finish his basement without needing to worry about any sort of water damage from a flooding basement!
Inside Porch Insulation in Old Town, ME
A homeowner in Old Town, ME reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems with concerns about their indoor porch being uncomfortably cold during the winter. The cold air seemed to seep through the floor, making the space less usable for several months of the year. After learning about our insulation solutions, the homeowner was eager to find an option that would not disrupt the existing structure of the porch. Our team came out to perform a detailed assessment and found that the cold drafts were indeed coming from underneath the porch flooring.   We recommended using Dr. Energy Saver spray foam insulation beneath the floor, as it provides a durable, airtight barrier that would stop the cold air from entering while also improving energy efficiency. The benefits of this type of insulation are significant. Not only does it prevent cold air from coming up through the floor, but it also helps stabilize the temperature in adjacent rooms, leading to a more comfortable home overall. Spray foam insulation also creates an effective seal, preventing moisture from getting trapped under the porch, which could lead to long-term damage.     Once the spray foam was applied to the underside of the porch flooring, the homeowner noticed a dramatic improvement in the warmth of the space. The porch became much more enjoyable, and the homeowner appreciated the increased energy efficiency throughout their home.
Flooding Basement In Milo, ME Drained With WaterGuard
A couple in Milo were seeking help in preventing their basement from flooding. During heavy rains, water would build up and sit on the basement floor, while their sump pump slowly did its best to remove the water. The couple got online and sought out their answer, soon finding TC Hafford Basement Systems, who they called right away. We gave them their free estimate, and then we got to work! To help eliminate the water building up on the basement floor, we dug out the inside perimeter of the basement floor to enable us to lay down our special WaterGuard pipe system just beneath the floor. It was then covered over with rocks and cement to bury it without stopping its function. The WaterGuard pipes will catch any water as it tries to enter the basement through the walls or floor via a phenomenon known as hydrostatic pressure. This water is then channeled to the sump in the basement. Within this sump, we replaced the old pump with a SuperSump. The Supersump is able to push 2,650 gallons of water per hour up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. With these two systems working in tandem, these homeowners will no longer have any water build up on their basement floor.
FlexiSpan Seal Protects Milo, ME Basement from Leaks
A homeowner from Milo, ME noticed a crack had opened on one of their basement walls. This crack had been letting outside moisture leak into the basement, which was immediately a problem for the homeowner. After hearing about our company from a friend, this homeowner called us at TC Hafford to set up their free estimate. They decided they wanted us to seal the crack so we dispatched our crew and got to work. When the installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the crack by prepping it for sealing with a coarse brush. Once clear of debris, a primary layer of sealant was applied within and around the crack.Next, a foam mat was layed over the sealant, along the length of the crack. Finally, a second layer of sealant was used to cover the structure, completing what is known as a Flexispan seal. This seal will keep any outside water from leaking in through the crack in the future. The foam core allows the FlexiSpan, as the name suggests, to flex slightly and conform to slight changes in the shape of the crack. With the crack sealed, this homeowner no longer needs to deal with water gathering on their basement floor. The FlexiSpan seal will keep this basement water-free for years to come!
TripleSafe Implementation Keeps Milo, ME Basement Safe from Flooding
Even though this Milo, ME homeowner had a sump in the floor of their basement, water would still occasionally overwhelm the sump and pool up across the floor. Dealing with these puddles was quickly getting tiresome for the homeowner, so they began looking for a way to solve the problem. After seeing TC Hafford on their TV, they called us right away to be set up with a free estimate. They spoke with our representative about their options and soon gave us the green light to waterproof their basement. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the property, they were able to get started on the basement right away. To enable this sump to handle the amount of water typically entering this space, a TripleSafe sump system was installed in the existing hole. The TripleSafe houses three individual pumps that operate at all hours to keep the basement water-free. The first and second pumps each work to remove the majority of the water, with the secondary pump only switching on if the primary pump is either overwhelmed by the volume of water or fails for any reason. The third pump operates on a battery, maintaining a dry basement even during power-outages. The water flowing through the TripleSafe exits the home through a PVC discharge line. This line carries the water a distance from the home before releasing it onto the lawn to harmlessly drain away. This line terminates through a LawnScape pipe segment which covers the end of the line with a grate. This grate allows the water to flow freely while keeping out relatively large debris. Just beyond where the discharge line leaves the side of the home, an IceGuard pipe section was integrated into the line. The IceGuard is constructed with upward facing holes in the sides. These holes do not interfere with normal water flow from the home but will release any water blocked by ice or debris blocking the line. This will prevent water from backing up and overflowing the sump. With their new sump system in place, this homeowner can rest assured their basement will keep itself dry. The TripleSafe pump will keep this basement from flooding for years into the future!
Leaking Basement In Bernard, ME Protected By WaterGuard
Cathy from Bernard was having trouble with water leaking into her basement through the corners. The water would be pushed in during heavy rains by what is known as hydrostatic pressure. Seeking a way to prevent the water build up, Cathy called TC Hafford Basement Systems. We were just the company she needed to get this job done! We began by digging out a trench encircling the basement floor. This is where we laid our WaterGuard piping system. This system will capture water as it enters the basement through the cement, and guide it to the sump. The WaterGuard is then covered with loose rocks and cement to hide it without stopping its function. We then installed a SmartSump sump pump, with an UltraSump backup battery attached. This will remove all the water collected by the WaterGuard, and remove it through a PVC discharge line. Even should the power go out in the home, the UltraSump will keep the pump pumping in any weather! Finally, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to the discharge line on the exterior of the home. This will allow water to continue to flow even if the lower end of the pipe becomes blocked by ice or other debris. With these systems in place, Cathy will never need to worry about a leaking basement again!
