Basement In Brooksville, ME Completely Waterproofed With WaterGuard
Bill from Brooksville was looking for a way to waterproof his basement. He was looking to finish his basement, and needed a way to guarantee his basement would stay dry. He saw an ad for TC Hafford on TV, and knew we would be the ones who could get the job done. He gave us a call and we gave him a free estimate. After Bill decided what he wanted done, we started work on his basement! We began by digging up the interior perimeter of the basement. This made way for us to install a WaterGuard pipe system. This piping will catch water as it enters through the floor or walls and direct it to the sump. The WaterGuard system is then covered over with concrete to seal it inside the floor. Next, we installed a SuperSump sump pump in the sump. This will take the collected water from the WaterGuard and pump it up and out of the basement. We attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump to ensure it will continue to pump water even if the power to the home should go out. For the final steps of waterproofing this basement, we needed to cover up two cracks in the basement wall. To do this, we used FlexiSpan. FlexiSpan is a three step process that starts with an injection of sealant into the cracks themselves. This sealant is covered in a foam mat, which helps add to the structure of the FlexiSpan by making it flexible. The mat is covered in a second layer of sealant to finish the FlexiSpan. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier to maintain a dry atmosphere within the basement. Now Bill will have a dry basement that he can finish without worry off water damage.
Basement in Corinth, ME, is in Drastic Need of a Dehumidifier
Two homeowners in Corinth were having trouble with water collecting in their basement. It wasn’t that the water was collecting in the wrong places, it would collect in the rather large sump. But the water would sit there a while before the pump could remove all of it. This was causing the air to become saturated with moisture. Moist air creates great living conditions for mold, so the homeowners needed a way to alleviate this moisture without altering their sump. After visiting a nearby home show, they gave TC Hafford Basement Systems a call. We sent out a crew to install a SaniDry XP. This dehumidifier would take all the moisture out of the air, and disperse the dry air throughout the basement. Maintaining a dry, mold free basement.
Finished Basement Being Destroyed by Water
This Corinth, ME, homeowner has been dealing with water coming into their basement during heavy rains, leading to damage to the walls and carpet. Tired of having to shop vac water off the floor and wanting to protect their home from more costly damage, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and booked a free estimate. System Design Specialist Craig Ziegenbein met with the homeowner, and together they worked on designing a waterproofing system to protect the basement.   To take care of the issue, parts of the wall were removed for the installation of WaterGuard. WaterGuard is installed in the problem areas along the perimeter of the space and under the slab to collect water and channel it to the new SuperSump Sump Pump. The SuperSump is capable of sucking up groundwater and the water channeled from the WaterGuard and pumping it out of the basement through the new Buried Discharge Line. The Buried Discharge takes the water far from the home where it won’t cause any issues, and with IceGuard built in, the system is protected against ice buildup, keeping the system running year round. With the waterproofing system installed, the homeowner is able to refinish their basement without their money and hard work going to waste, and the space will be protected against water in the future.
Crack In Deer Isle, ME, Basement Sealed With FlexiSpan
Jeff from Deer Isle had a crack in the wall of his Basement. Once he noticed water was spilling in through this crack, he had to have something done to fix it. Jeff took to the internet to find a solution for this problem. He came across TC Hafford Basement Systems, and knew we were the ones for the job. After being contacted, we had a representative take a look at the crack to see what the best solution was. Once decided, our crew got to work installing FlexiSpan. The first part of this process is to inject the crack with a sealant. This sealant is the first of three layers that make up FlexiSpan. Secondly, we apply a foam matting over the sealant, which acts as barrier for any water that makes it by the sealant. Finally, a second layer of sealant is placed over the foam, sealing it against the crack. This procedure locks out any moisture from trying to enter through the crack, keeping the basement try in three steps. The structure of the FlexiSpan also allows it to contort, should the wall shift at all. Maintaining the seal.
Charleston, ME Basement Kept Dry with SaniDry Installation.
When this homeowner in Charleston, ME began to notice a musty smell in their basement, they were unsure at first about what was causing the problem or how to remedy it. But after a google search and a free estimate from us at TC Hafford Basement Systems, they knew exactly what the problem was and what their options were for fixing it. They decided to have our crew solve the problem for them and hired us right away to get the job done! Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they got to work clearing away the accumulating moisture in the air of the basement that had been causing the issue. While the homeowners’ sump drain was removing any water from the floor, moisture building up in the air was still a problem. A SaniDry XP dehumidifier was installed on the floor of the basement to handle the airborne moisture. The damp air surrounding the SaniDry will now be pulled in and separated from the moisture. The dried air is then circulated back into the basement while the collected water travels through a pipe to a Condensate Pump nearby which removes the water from the home. Now that the atmosphere in this basement has been dried, this homeowners’ problem should soon be a thing of the past. The SaniDry XP dehumidifier will keep the air in this basement dry and healthy for years to come!
Crawlspace In Kenduskeag, ME, Waterproofed Properly With CleanSpace
Bill from Kenduskeag needed his crawlspace to be water free, but his current sump system was not removing water like it should have been. He soon made the call to TC Hafford Basement Systems to get his crawlspace waterproofed the right way! We had a representative sent out to the home to look at the problem and give a free estimate. Bill decided on what he wanted done, and we got to work! We started by removing the old sump pump, this wasn’t going to be needed. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump. This new pump would be more than capable of removing any water leaking into the crawlspace. Next we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner completely covers the floor, walls, and supports within the crawlspace. Being sealed against the surfaces it covers, this liner will completely lock out any moisture attempting to find its way into the crawlspace. Finally, on the exterior of the house, where the water from the sump pump travels through a discharge pipe, we concatenated an IceGuard pipe. This piece is uniquely designed to allow for water to continue to flow even if the lower end of the discharge pipe is blocked by ice or other debris. Now this homeowner is happy with his dry crawlspace.
Sebec, ME Basement Wall Reinforced With PowerBrace
A homeowner in Sebec noticed he had a basement wall that was leaning inward. The cinder blocks that composed the wall were starting to bend inward under the pressure of the surrounding soil. Having been asking around for ways to fix this wall, the homeowner soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems. He called us right away and we had our representative head over to the home to inspect the wall and give a free estimate. After the homeowner gave us the go ahead, our crew got to work! To hold the wall in place, we needed to reinforce the wall with more support. This is why we installed PowerBrace against the basement wall. PowerBrace is made up of several steel I-beams spread out along the wall. These are secured into place at the foot of the wall, and attached to the wooden joists in the ceiling. The ceiling attachment is adjustable, allowing us to form the PowerBrace tightly against the wall. This will apply pressure to the wall, and over time, realign it with its original position. We will return to this basement at a later date to tighten the braces for the homeowner, finishing the PowerBrace installation. With PowerBrace in place, this homeowner now no longer fears his basement wall potentially caving in!
Flooding Sebec, ME Basement Kept Dry with WaterGuard Installation
A couple living in Sebec, ME were looking to renovate their basement and turn it into a livable space. But without proper waterproofing, outside moisture would leak in through their concrete foundation and cause problems. Needing a way to keep the water out of the space, they searched online for a solution. When they found us at TC Hafford Basement Systems, they called right away to set up their free estimate. Knowing their options, they hired us to solve their wet basement problems. Upon arriving at the home, our installation crew got started by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the concrete basement floor. This enabled them to then lay WaterGuard piping down, surrounding the space. Covered in loose rocks and concrete to seal the pipes without hindering their function, the WaterGuard will take in leaking moisture through small slits along the bottom edge of each pipe. This water is now guided through the floor to the sump where a SuperSump pump was installed. The water fed to the SuperSump is forced up and out of the home through a discharge line. This discharge line carries the water a distance from the home before depositing it on the lawn. The end of this line was fitted with a LawnScape discharge port. This piece has the open end covered by a grate, allowing the water to flow freely while blocking any debris from entering the line to cause problems. Just beyond where the discharge line exits the home, an IceGuard pipe segment was implemented into the line. The IceGuard section has upward facing holes that only allow for water trapped in the line to escape. This will prevent ice from blocking the line and causing a backup into the home. With their newly waterproofed basement, these homeowners can now use their basement as a livable space without the need to worry about leaking water ruining their belongings. The WaterGuard piping will keep this basement floor water-free for years to come!
Leaking Walls in Bucksport, ME, Basement Dealt With The Right Way
A homeowner in Bucksport contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems after seeing an ad on his television. This homeowner had a few simple questions; was the water coming in through the wall a big problem, and what could be done to fix it. These questions were quickly answered by us once we arrived and took a look. After the homeowner chose what he wanted done, we got to work! The water coming in through the walls of the basement would collect on the floor and then travel across the basement. To prevent this, we dug up the perimeter of the basement floor, and installed a WaterGuard pipe system around the entire basement. This pipe will catch water as it flows down from the walls or up from the ground and channel it to the sump. The homeowner chose to go with an UltraSump sump pump, to push the collected water out of his basement through a discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we fitted a piece of the discharge line with an IceGuard pipe. This piece will allow water to continue to flow even if the lower end of the discharge line is blocked by ice or debris. This homeowner no longer needs to worry about a wet basement.
Soon To Be Finished Basement In Orrington, ME, Tiled With ThermalDry
A homeowner in Orrington was looking to get their basement finished; but small amounts of water would gather on the concrete floor from time to time. The homeowner had a sump pump, but that just wasn’t doing the job. After seeing TC Hafford Basement Systems at a home show, they decided to hire us for the job. We had a representative take a look at the basement, and then we got to work! We started by removing the old pump, and installing a new TripleSafe sump pump. This pump will almost never fail. There are three separate pumps to maintain constant water removal no matter the weather or power situation. We then laid ThermalDry tiling across the entire basement floor. These are special interlocking tiles that rest slightly off the concrete, supported by an insulation layer. This makes sure the floor the homeowner walks on will always be dry, and insulated from the cold concrete. Now this basement is ready to be finished without fear of water issues.
