Sump Upgrade Keeps Southwest Harbor, ME Basement Water-Free
A homeowner living in Southwest Harbor, ME was having some water troubles in their basement. Water would gather across the surface of the basement floor if too much water entered the space for their sump to handle. Needing this water problem dealt with as soon as possible, the homeowner searched online for a solution. They soon discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems and called us right away to set up their free estimate. They liked the sound of what we could get done in the space and hired us to get started! When our installation crew arrived at the home they began by installing a SuperSump sump pump within the existing sump pit; making some minor adjustments to the size of the hole. The SuperSump will now take in water trying to gather on this basement floor and pump it out of the home through a discharge line. An UltraSump backup battery was attached to a nearby wall and connected to the SuperSump. The UltraSump will allow the SuperSump to remain operational during any power outages that would otherwise impair the system. Outside the home, two additions were made to the discharge line that carries the water away from the home. An IceGuard pipe segment was attached to the line just beyond where it exits the home. The IceGuard will protect the home against any ice or debris blocking the lower end of the line. Any water trapped by a blockage is able to escape the line through holes in the IceGuard piece. Finally, a LawnScape cap piece was used to end the line. This piece has a grate over the end so that the water can flow onto the lawn while outside debris is kept from entering the pipe. Now that they have a proper sump system in place, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about finding a flooded basement during heavy rainfall. The SuperSump & UltraSump combination will ensure this basement floor stays dry for years to come!
Leaking Southwest Harbor, ME Basement Wall Sealed with FlexiSpan
Shortly after winter one year, this Southwest Harbor, ME homeowner noticed a crack in their basement was letting in water as the snow thawed out. The homeowner, worried about water damage, looked online for a solution to their problem. After discovering TC Hafford Basement Systems, they gave us a call to receive a free estimate on possible solutions. They soon met with our sales representative and agreed to have our crew take care of the crack in their basement wall. When our installation crew arrived at the home, they were tasked with sealing this crack with a three-part FlexiSpan seal. To prep the crack for sealant, a coarse brush was used to clear the crack of debris. The fist layer of sealant was then applied within the crack. This layer was covered by a foam mat that would become the core of the finished seal. Finally, a second layer of sealant was laid over the top of the crack, locking the FlexiSpan against the wall and keeping out any future leakages. The foam core within the FlexiSpan, as the name suggests, will allow the seal to adjust to any slight changes in the overall shape of the crack, should the wall shift at all. With the crack sealed, this homeowner will no longer take on water in their home during each coming spring. The FlexiSpan seal will keep this basement water-free for years down the road!
Bradley, ME Basement Waterproofed Using WaterGuard
A homeowner in Bradley was experiencing water leaking into his basement during heavy rains. The water would seem to come from nowhere, but it would gather in the basement nonetheless. This was clearly a case of the water coming in through the walls or up through the floor. This is a very common issue, and after meeting with TC Hafford Basement Systems at a home show, this homeowner chose us to get the job done! We started by digging up the inside perimeter of the basement, to install the WaterGuard pipe system. This is a specially designed pipe that collects water as it enters through the walls and floor. After capturing the water, it is channeled towards the sump. Next we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take all of the gathered water and push it up and out of the basement. Now this water issue is a thing of the past!
Wet Basement In Northeast Harbor, ME Sealed From Water With WaterGuard
A business owner in Northeast Harbor was having trouble with water gathering in their basement, and damaging supplies. This needed to stop as soon as possible, so they looked around for solutions. Soon they heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a satisfied previous customer, and gave us a call. We had a representative dispatched to the business to inspect the basement and give a free estimate. Shortly after the business owner decided on what work they wanted done, we began the fix! To allow for the emplacement of our WaterGuard system, we needed to begin by excavating the interior perimeter of the basement floor. Once we got the WaterGuard in place, it was layered over with loose rocks and cement. This allowed the WaterGuard to still function normally while remaining hidden beneath the floor. The WaterGuard will capture water as it enters through the walls or floor and guide it to the sump. In the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take the collected water and push it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the business, we attached an IceGuard filter to the discharge line. This will guarantee water will continue to flow even if the lower end of the pipe becomes blocked by ice or other debris. Now this business owner can conduct business normally without the need to worry about their supplies being damaged by water.
Spray Foam Insulation Protects Northeast Harbor, ME Crawlspace
When this homeowner living in Northeast Harbor, ME needed some work done on the crawlspace below their home. Having used us at TC Hafford Basement Systems before, they knew just who to call. After they spoke with our office staff, we set this homeowner up with a free estimate. Our sales representative soon made their way to the home for the scheduled appointment and explained in detail to the homeowner the different ways we could help them with their problem. They hired us right away to get the job taken care of and we dispatched our crew. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they made their way into the crawlspace to get started. This homeowner was looking to put better insulation between their home and their crawlspace. To achieve this, Spray Foam was spread within the rim joists above the crawlspace. Once sprayed, the foam will expand and fill in the spaces between the home interior and the cool crawlspace below. This will create a barrier that will help the homeowner retain efficiency when heating or cooling their home. With their new insulation below their home, this homeowner should have no problems with losing heat during the winter anymore! The Spray Foam installation will keep this space insulated for many years to come!
Summer Home Plagued by High Moisture
This Northeast Harbor, ME, summer home has had an issue with high moisture in it’s crawl space for the past couple of years. The homeowner was worried about mold coming into the living space, causing costly repairs and creating unhealthy living conditions for the family. The homeowner wanted to get the problem solved as fast as possible, so they booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. The area was first prepped by regrading the ground to create a smooth base. The crawl space needed to be encapsulated to seal up the area and keep moisture out, so CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting was laid down to create a gap that allows water to be channeled to the sump pump and works to protect the CleanSpace. CleanSpace was installed on top of the Drainage Matting and was attached to the crawl space walls to seal up the area. CleanSpace is a durable vapor barrier that keeps moisture and critters out, reducing mold and creating the perfect space for storage. A Sump Liner was installed so a sump can be added in the future if needed without having to modify the encapsulation system. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed, and with the addition of a Condensate Pump, the homeowner never has to go into the basement to empty a bucket and the humidity will be kept at a safe level year-round. Wet Crawl Space in Bar Harbor, ME
Moisture has wreaked havoc on this Bar Harbor, ME, crawl space, and the homeowner couldn’t let the issues continue, so they booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Craig Ziegenbein worked with the homeowner to design a system that would seal their crawl space and keep humidity from causing damage and rotting out the wood. CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was first installed to encapsulate the area and create a barrier between the outside elements and the crawl space. Drainage Matting is a durable, dimpled matting that creates a channel that allows ground water to flow to the sump pump and elevates the CleanSpace to protect it. CleanSpace is an inorganic vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls to seal the crawl space from moisture and small critters. An UltraSump was installed to take the water from the area and pump it away from the home through a new Exterior Buried Discharge line. The Discharge line and the sump system are protected from freezing during the winter with the installation of IceGuard. To finish the encapsulation system, the old and rotting crawl space entrance cover was replaced with a new EverLast Access Panel that keeps air and moisture from coming into the crawl space. Now the homeowner is happy being able to use their crawl space for storage with moisture no longer affecting the health of their home.
