Smelly Basement In Farmingdale, ME, Aired Out With SaniDry
A homeowner in Farmingdale had a basement with a rather excessive mold problem. This was causing the basement to smell quite a lot, which was upsetting the homeowner. This mold problem was most likely caused by moisture gathering in the air in the basement. Humid air is a wonderful breeding ground for mold, and mold was thriving in this basement. The homeowner needed a solution and they took to the internet to find one. After coming across TC Hafford Basement Systems, they knew what they wanted to do. We had a crew head out to get to work in no time. We installed a SaniDry XP Dehumidifier. This dehumidifier doesn’t just remove moisture from a small secluded area of a basement; it will take the air around itself, dry it out, and blow it across the basement to allow for the other moist air to be circulated and dehumidified as well. Removing any chance of allowing mold grow, maintaining a healthy basement for this homeowner.
Support Original Sump Pump in Farmingdale, ME
A Farmingdale, ME homeowner contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their wet basement. The owner already had a sump pump but water was not always making it to the pump. We installed WaterGuard and TrenchDrain along the basement perimeter, and tied them into the existing sump pump. WaterGuard and TrenchDrain help channel any existing water to the sump pump. TrenchDrain is used in higher traffic areas, as well as around areas where water is more likely to accumulate, such as oil and water tanks.
WaterGuard Piping Maintains Dry Farmingdale, ME Basement
When a homeowner in Farmingdale, ME had became tired of living with a constantly damp basement floor, they sought a solution to keep the space dry. They soon heard about TC Hafford from a family member and called us to get a free estimate done on their basement. Once the estimate was finished, they decided they wanted the work done and our crew got to work. Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began this waterproofing with the installation of WaterGuard piping. To begin, a trench was dug into the concrete floor, around the perimeter. This is where the new WaterGuard piping was laid, before being buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete. Now inside the floor, these pipes will take in any leaking moisture through slits at the base of each pipe. The trapped water is guided through the floor to the sump where it will be removed. Within the sump, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump for the WaterGuard to feed directly into. This device houses three individual pumps. The primary and secondary pumps are responsible for removing the bulk of the water needing to be pumped out of the home, with the secondary pump only activating if the primary pump cannot handle the water-level alone. The third pump is a battery backup pump, for when the home loses power. This will ensure the basement remains dry no matter how heavy the storm. The water leaves the basement through a PVC discharge line. Outside the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment just beyond where this line exits the home. This pipe segment has special holes built-in which allow for trapped water to escape. This will protect he basement from ice in the line causing any backups. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was attached to the end of the line. This piece has a grate over the end, allowing the water to escape while keeping out any debris thay may block the line. With their new waterproofing complete, this homeowner can rest assured their basement will stay dry, even during heavy rainfall. The WaterGuard will guide any leaking moisture straight to the sump before it reaches the surface of the floor and becomes a problem.
Proper Vapor Barrier Installation Protects Farmingdale, ME Crawlspace from Moisture
A homeowner that lived in Farmingdale, ME had recently begun to notice a musty smell in parts of their home. They tracked the smell to be coming from the damp crawlspace below the home. The moisture creates an excellent environment for mold to grow and the homeowner wanted to remedy this situation as quickly as possible. After seeing TC Hafford Basement Systems on their TV, the homeowner called to receive their free estimate. Once they heard what we could offer, they hired us right away to have the space protected from the moisture. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the property, they got started right away waterproofing the crawlspace below the home. To keep out leaking water, a vapor barrier would be needed in the space. To begin, a Drainage Matting was laid, covering the floor of the crawlspace. This mat sits just above the floor, leaving channels between itself and the floor for any trapped water to flow through to drain from the space without issue. Next, a CleanSpace liner was utilized to encapsulate the interior of the crawlspace. This covered the walls and floor with a thin sheet of plastic, sealing out any outside moisture completely. This now forms a vapor barrier between the crawlspace and exterior of the home. With their newly installed barrier, this homeowner should notice any signs of the moisture problem soon clear up. The CleanSpace liner alongside the Drainage Matting will ensure this crawlspace interior remains dry for years to come!

TC Hafford Basement Systems was the exact solution they were looking for, and they found us not long after starting their search. They gave us a call, and we got to work! To realign the slab with the rest of the foundation, we needed to inject PolyLevel underneath it. This is a special foam that, once injected, will push the slab back up off the ground. After returning the slab to its original position, the PolyLevel will set and solidify. Holding the garage floor in place for years to come. Now this homeowner has a newly leveled garage floor that is no longer a cause for concern!
Sump Pump Replaced with TripleSafe System in Madison, ME
A homeowner in Madison had a sump pump that would push water out of their basement. But they noticed that the pump was starting to have water come into it from the outside. This was the opposite of what the homeowner wanted the pump to be doing. After a quick internet search, the homeowner contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems. We took a look at the basement and got to work. We started by removing the old sump pump, that device wasn’t cutting it anymore. We then installed our TripleSafe sump pump. This device uses not one, but three pumps to keep out water. There is one primary pump, and then two backup pumps in case the first fails for any reason. We then attached an IceGuard to the discharge pipe outside the house. This IceGuard will allow water to escape the pipe should the lower end of the discharge line get blocked by ice or other debris. This homeowner no longer needs to worry about their sump backing up and bringing more water into their basement.
Crawlspace in Madison, ME Receives Proper Vapor Barrier
A homeowner living in Madison, ME had a problem. The crawlspace beneath their home would regularaly take on water from rain and melting snow. Tired of the musty smell this moisture was causing throughout their home, the homeowner was looking for something they could do to put an end to it. They then saw TC Hafford Basement Systems on their TV and called us right away to get their free estimate. Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on waterproofing this crawlspace right away. To begin, a Drainage Matting was laid across the floor of the space. This will allow for any moisture build-up within the barrier to flow out through the ground. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the space. This coevers all of the walls as well as the floor with a plastic sheet that completely locks out moisture. These two layers now form a vapor barrier, protecting the space against outside water. Now that their crawlspace is safe from leaks, this homeowner should no longer have to suffer from damp, musty air coming from the space. The CleanSpace barrier will keep out any and all water that would otherwise leak in and cause problems.
Madison, ME Basement Receives Much Needed WaterGuard Installation
Even though their home sat on a concrete foundation, water would still end up leaking into the basement of this Madison, ME home. Uncertain on what to do to stop the leakage, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems soon after seeing us on their TV. Our office staff set them up with a free estimate and they were soon given details on what we could do for them by one of our sales representatives. They gave us the green light to get started on the waterproofing right away! When our installation crew arrived at the home, they needed a way to prevent moisture from entering the basement through the concrete foundation. To achieve this, a shallow trench was excavated into the perimeter of the concrete floor, allowing for WaterGuard piping to be laid down below the surface level of the floor. After being covered over by a fresh layer of concrete, the WaterGuard piping within the floor will capture any leaking moisture from now-on. The water, collected through slits in the edges of the pipes, travels through the WaterGuard to the sump where it will be removed from the home. Within the sump, our crew installed a SuperSump pump with an UltraSump battery connected nearby. The SuperSump will take in any water collected by the WaterGuard, forcing it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump is capable of outputting over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. The UltraSump that was connected to the SuperSump is a backup battery that will activate to power the SuperSump during any power outages in the home. This will enable the SuperSump to maintain a dry basement floor even during exceptionally harsh storms. With their newly protected basement, this homeowner can now use the space for storage without the fear of water damaging their property. The WaterGuard piping will keep the surface of this basement floor dry for years to come!
