Sump Upgrade Protects Exeter, ME Basement During Power Outages
With a sump pump already installed in their basement, this Exeter, ME homeowner was not used to having a flooded basement. But during exceptionally inclement weather, their home was without power and the basement flooded without the sump to remove the water. Worried this may happen again, the homeowner searched online and soon called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to find out what we could do to help them. After they spoke with our sale representative and received their free estimate, the homeowner hired us to provide a solution to their problem. When our crew arrived at the home, they needed to bolster the existing sump so that it could maintain activity even during power outages. To do this, an UltraSump backup batter was installed nearby the existing sump pump. This device was then connected to the sump to provide the power necessary to keep the sump active. The UltraSump will remain inactive until the home loses power in the future. The sump will then operate using power from the battery, which is capable of removing over 11,000 gallons of water before requiring a charge. This new system will now keep this home safe from flooding during the harshest storms. The UltraSump will keep this homeowner’s sump operational around the clock for years to come!
Greenville, ME Basement Kept Dry With WaterGuard
A couple in Greenville frequently experienced a basement with a few inches of water in it. This water was leaking in through the cement, and the homeowners needed a way to prevent this from happening in the future. After a quick internet search, they found TC Hafford Basement Systems and knew we could get the job done! They called us to receive their free estimate, and then we got to work! To capture the water as it travels through the concrete, we installed our WaterGuard piping system underneath the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This water that finds itself inside the WaterGuard is guided to the sump in the basement, where we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will maintain a dry floor, being able to handle up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour. The water is pumped out through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece mid-way along the discharge line. The IceGuard is designed to allow water to exit the pipe, should the lower end become blocked by ice or other debris. These systems will just about guarantee no more water will build up on the homeowner’s basement floor!
Proper Vapor Barrier Protects Greenville, ME Crawlspace from Leakage
A homeowner living in Greenville, ME had recently noticed a musty smell in parts of their home. At first, they were unsure where this smell was coming from, but they soon discovered the problem was water leaking into their crawlspace. To put an end to the smell and the moisture problem, they searched online for a solution. Once they found TC Hafford Basement Systems they knew they found the right company to get the job done right. They called us right away for their free estimate and we got to work! As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home they began installing a vapor barrier to keep moisture out of this crawlspace in the future. This started with a Drainage Matting being laid across the floor of the crawlspace. The Drainage Matting sits just above the floor and has many small holes throughout. This will allow for the water blocked by the barrier to flow towards where it can more easily drain away back into the ground. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace, covering all of the walls as well as the floor. This thin liner will completely lock out any outside moisture trying to enter the interior of the crawlspace. These two layers forms a vapor barrier that will soon eliminate this homeowners moisture problem. Now once the space dries out, this homeowner will no longer need to deal with a musty smell around their home. The newly installed vapor barrier will keep this crawlspace dry for many years to come!
Bowing Basement Wall in Greenville, ME repaired with PowerBrace Installation
A homeowner living in Greenville, ME had recently noticed that one of the walls in their basement was bowing inward. This unusual bending of the wall made the homeowner uneasy and they quickly began searching for a solution to their problem. The homeowner soon discovered our TC Hafford website and contacted us to ask about what could be done to fix their wall. We dispatched our sales representative to give the homeowner a free estimate and they soon decided on how they wanted the problem solved, giving us the go-ahead to begin work on their basement. The PowerBrace beams are fixed to the joists in the ceiling using brackets that will allow for the beams to be tightened against the wall while the bottoms of each beam are secured to the floor with concrete screw anchors. Once fully installed, the PowerBraces will be tightened over time to readjust the wall until it reaches its original position once again. Now this homeowner can make use of their basement without the worry of a collapsing wall damaging their property. The PowerBrace installation will ensure this wall stays right where it belongs for the future!
Damp Crawl Space In Sunset, ME Protected with CleanSpace
A homeowner in Sunset was experiencing trouble with their crawlspace gathering water during rain. The crawlspace was at a slant, and as water entered, it would form a large puddle at the bottom of the slant. This was causing a bad smell throughout the house, and the homeowner needed a way to fix this. They heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a friend and called us the next day. We had a representative out at the home shortly after to inspect the crawlspace and give a free estimate. The homeowner gave us the go ahead and our crew got to work! Needing a dry basement, this homeowner took to the internet to find a solution. Once they came across TC Hafford, they knew they had found their solution. After our representative inspected the sump, we had a crew get to work. The old pump was removed, and we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This pump will practically never malfunction. There are three pumps inside the TripleSafe, one for regular pumping. One backup pump for when the first pump either can’t handle the water, or stops functioning. Wet Crawlspace In Stockton Springs, ME Sealed With CleanSpace
Rick from Stockton Springs had a crawlspace that would gather water during rain. This normally wasn’t a problem for Rick, but it started to form a smell, that was finding its way into his home. He needed a way to stop moisture from gathering in his crawlspace if he wanted to put an end to this smell, so he got online and searched for a solution. Not long after he began his search, he found TC Hafford Basement Systems, who he decided was the right company for the job. Rick called us soon after and we got to work! The water entering his crawlspace was clearly coming in from the surrounding soil. Water can leak in through the soil rather easily when it rains. The water builds up in the soil, and then when the pressure is great enough, seeks out places where there is less pressure, AKA, Ricks crawlspace. To stop the water from entering, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This is a thin sheet of plastic that will hold out any moisture trying to leak in through the walls or floor of the crawlspace. Rick can live odor free now that his crawlspace has been waterproofed!

Having fixed a crack in their basement wall a few years ago, this Stockton Springs, ME homeowner was surprised to find water leaking through the crack once again. Worried about their basement suffering water damage, the homeowner sought a longer lasting solution online. They soon discovered us at TC Hafford Basement Systems and called us right away to set up their free estimate. The homeowner soon spoke with our sales representative and agreed on the work they wanted done to keep water out of their basement in the future. Next, the first layer of sealant was applied within the crack, beginning the FlexiSpan seal installation. A foam mat was then laid along the length of the crack and covered over by a second layer of sealant. The foam core within the completed FlexiSpan structure gives the seal its flexible nature. Now if the wall were to shift in such a way that the crack slightly changes shape, the seal will contort to the new shape and continue to hold back water. The Carmel Church had been having trouble with their basement. Water had been building up and causing a smell to emanate throughout the building. They gave us the go ahead and we got to work! We got started by excavating the interior perimeter of the basement. This new trench was filled with our WaterGuard pipe system. These pipes will capture water as it tries to enter through the walls or floor, and guide it to the sump. The WaterGuard is covered over with loose rocks and cement to hide it beneath the floor without hindering functionality. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump in the sump to evacuated the water. The water exits through a PVC discharge line. These two systems working in tandem will maintain a dry basement for the church for many years in the future.
