We began by digging out more of the sump to make room for a pump to be put in. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump in the old sump. This will take the water entering the sump and force it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. Attached to this pump, we added an UltraSump backup battery to keep the SuperSump working even if the home loses power. On the outside of the home, we connected an IceGuard pipe to the discharge line. This special piece of pipe will allow water to continue to leave the basement even if the lower end of the pipe becomes blocked in any way. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier in the basement. This dehumidifier will take in the air immediately surrounding it and dry out any moisture. It then pushes the air out into the basement, forcing more moist air back towards the SaniDry. This cycle continues until the basement air is completely dry. Now Dave has a dry basement floor and healthy air circulating his basement. Water damage is a worry of the past!

Finally, the water will flow out of the line through the grate of a LawnScape discharge port. The grate will keep larger debris from entering the line and causing long-lasting blockages. We had a representative at the home soon after to inspect the basement and give a free estimate. After the homeowner gave us the green light, we got to work! We began working on the basement by excavating the perimeter of the floor. This new trench allowed us to lay our WaterGuard piping system down. The WaterGuard is designed in such a way that it will capture the water as it leaks through the cement toward the interior of the basement. The captured water is directed to the sump, where we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This pump will guarantee the water fed to it will be pumped out of the basement, being equipped with a battery-powered backup pump. The water being evacuated exits through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to this discharge line to maintain water flow. The IceGuard will allow any water in the pipe to exit the pipe, should the lower end of the pipe become blocked by ice or other debris. This will help make the heating and cooling of the home more efficient year-round. Next, a Drainage Matting was laid across the floor of the crawlspace to begin a vapor barrier installation. The Drainage Matting sits above the surface of the floor using divots along the surface of the material. This allows water trapped below the mat to flow towards the edge of the space and drain back into the ground. Next, the vapor barrier was completed using a CleanSpace liner to encapsulate the interior of the crawlspace. This covered the floor as well as the walls with a thin sheet that seals out any leaking moisture that would have previously entered the space. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifer was installed in the space. This device will take in the moisture still present in the air of the crawlspace. The air is separated from the moisture inside the SaniDry and the dry air is then circulated back into the space. Any water collected within the dehumidifier is pumped out of the home through a discharge line, where it will drain away into the ground. With these improvements made to their crawlspace, this homeowner can rest assured their crawlspace is safe from mold growth and other moisture problems in the future!
