Leaky Basement In Kittery Point, ME Waterproofed With SuperSump
A homeowner in Kittery Point was having trouble with their foundation letting water into their basement. Needing professional help with this issue, they started to ask around for ways to stop the water. They soon got referred to TC Hafford Basement Systems, who they contacted right away to receive their free estimate. The homeowner decided on what work they wanted done, and we dispatched our crew to get to work! We began by digging out the current floor of the basement. This allowed us to pour a new slab of concrete. This new basement floor would hold up against water much more effectively than the previous stone floor the homeowner had. We left a sump in the slab to allow us easy installation of a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will collect the water gathering in the basement, and push it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to the discharge line. The IceGuard will allow water to continue to flow from the pump, even if the lower end of the pipe becomes blocked by ice or other debris. This homeowner now has a dry basement with a fresh slab, that will remain dry for years to come, thanks to SuperSump!
A new Sump for this Kittery Point Home
This Kittery Point, ME homeowner wanted to use their basement for storage but felt uncomfortable doing so because of water problems. Looking to take care of their issue and regain control over their basement, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Michael Penna met with the homeowner to go over their concerns and design a system that would keep the home healthy and their belongings safe. First, the old sump was removed and replaced with a SuperSump that is connected to a Buried Discharge Line. The SuperSump takes all groundwater and pumps it through the Buried Discharge Line far enough from the house where it can’t cause any trouble. To keep the system running all year round without issue, IceGuard is installed to prevent ice buildup during the harsh Maine winter months. Now the homeowner is able to use their basement for storage without concern of their belongings being damaged.
Leaking Crawlspace In Rangeley, ME Sealed With CleanSpace
A homeowner in Rangeley started having trouble with water coming in through the corners of his crawlspace. This would happen during heavy rains, but it mostly happened after winter when the snow melts. The homeowner was tired of his crawlspace flooding and needed to do something about it. He got online to find a solution, and found TC Hafford Basement Systems not too long after. He gave us a call, and we got to work on the crawlspace! We got to work by laying down a Drainage Matting around the inside perimeter of the crawlspace. This will hold the water back from entering the air in the crawlspace, giving it time to escape back into the surrounding soil. We then encapsulated the entire crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner will lock out any moisture trying to enter through the walls or floor of the crawlspace. Maintaining a dry atmosphere within the crawlspace, during the heaviest rains, or even after the snow melts!
FlexiSpan Seal Protects Rangeley, ME Basement from Leaking Water
After moving to Rangeley, ME, this homeowner soon noticed a problem beneath their home. A crack along one of the concrete walls was letting in water during rainfall, which would pool up on the floor of the basement. Having worked with us before, the homeowner called TC Hafford to have us solve their problem. They spoke with our representative about their options and then we got to work on the solution! When our installation crew got to the home, they began work on a FlexiSpan seal to keep out the leaking water. To start, the crack was brushed clear of dust and debris by a coarse brush to help the seal adhere better. Next, a layer of sealant was applied within the crack, before a foam mat was laid on top. The foam will sit inside the core of the finished seal, to help maintain the shape of the overall seal while allowing it to shift slightly to any changes in the crack. Finally, a second layer of sealant was applied over the top of the foam, to lock the structure against the wall and complete the FlexiSpan installation. With the crack in their basement wall sealed, this homeowner will no longer suffer from water damage due to leaks through the wall. The FlexiSpan will keep this basement water-free in the future.
Rangeley, ME Basement Waterproofed with WaterGuard Installation
Living in a 50-year-old home, this Rangeley, ME homeowner regularly experienced a flooding basement whenever the water level in a nearby lake rose. Looking for a way to put an end to this flooding, they searched online and soon discovered our TC Hafford Basement Systems website. The homeowner called our office staff to set up their free estimate and met with our Sales Representative soon after to discuss their options. Liking what we could do to prevent future flooding, they hired us to get the job done! When our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on this basement floor by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. Within this new trench, they were able to lay WaterGuard Piping surrounding the basement floor. Buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, these pipes will collect any water entering this basement as it passes through the typical entry point, the floor itself. The water then travels through these pipes to the sump where it enters the TripleSafe pump installed within. The TripleSafe unit houses three pumps, each activating at different times to keep the basement water-free around the clock! The first and second pumps may be active at the same time, with the secondary pump only activating if and when the primary becomes overwhelmed. This leaves the third pump, which is powered by an internal battery as opposed to the other two pumps running off the power in the home. This will enable the TripleSafe to keep removing water from the home even during a power outage. Any water leaving the home through the sump will exit through a PVC discharge line that carries the water a distance from the home. With these waterproofing systems in place, this homeowner should soon notice their basement remains dry even during the exceptionally wet time of year. The WaterGuard & TripleSafe installations will keep this basement water-free for years to come!
Cracks in York, ME Basement Wall Repaired With FlexiSpan
A homeowner in York had noticed cracks that formed in her basement walls. These cracks had been letting in moisture from the surrounding soil, and allowing for water to pool up in the basement. This needed to stop. The homeowner started asking around for how to go about resolving this issue, and she got pointed in the direction of TC Hafford Basement Systems by a previous customer. She soon gave us a call and we had a representative inspect the cracks and give her a free estimate of the repair cost. She gave us the “go ahead” and we got started! To fix these cracks, we needed to cover them over with something that could not only hold back water, but something that could stay over the crack for extend portions of time. This meant we needed to use FlexiSpan to seal the cracks. FlexiSpan is requires a three-step process to install. First, we filled the crack with a sealant. This sealant will act as the primary barrier for moisture and hold back most of the water, while also conforming to the crack. Next, the first layer is covered over with a foam matting. The mat further prevents moisture from passing, while giving the overall structure of the FlexiSpan its flexible nature. Finally, the foam mat is covered with a second layer of sealant. This locks out moisture while firmly holding the structure in place, flat against the wall. The FlexiSpan will now keep out any moisture trying to leak in through these cracks, while being able to conform to the crack should the basement walls shift in any way. Now this homeowner has whole walls and a dry basement thanks to FlexiSpan!
RainDrop System Installation in York, Maine
A homeowner in York, Maine, reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems, concerned about keeping their gutters clean and efficient. They already had a working gutter system in place but were tired of dealing with clogs from leaves and debris. After discussing the options, we recommended installing the RainDrop system to complement their existing gutters.   The RainDrop system is designed to prevent debris from entering the gutters while still allowing water to flow through freely. This means that the homeowner wouldn’t need to worry about frequent maintenance or clogs, especially during the fall when leaves are at their worst. By keeping the gutters clean and functional, the RainDrop system helps prevent water from overflowing and causing damage to the home’s foundation or landscaping.   After the installation was complete, the homeowner felt confident that they had made the right choice. They were very happy with how seamless the process was and appreciated the added protection it provided for their home. No more climbing ladders to clean out the gutters—just peace of mind knowing the system would do its job year-round. This simple yet effective upgrade made a big difference for the homeowner, providing them with a long-term solution to their gutter concerns.
Choosing the Gutter That's Right for You
This York, ME, homeowner needed to replace gutters on their home that were prone to clogging and install new gutters on crucial parts of their home that were lacking them completely. Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems received a call for a free estimate and sent System Design Specialist Josh Hamel to help. Staying off of a ladder and keeping not only the home safe but the homeowner as well is something that can be achieved with Gutter Shutter. Gutter Shutter offers a larger six-inch gutter with a seamless design and an incorporated shutter design that allows debris such as pine needles and leaves to slide off, only allowing water from rain or melting snow to get in. The larger gutter allows for more water to be channeled to the downspout, helping to prevent ice from building up. Gutter Shutter can hold the weight of a full-grown man, so snowy winters are no match for the tough design, meaning even during the harsh Maine winters, the home will be protected. Gutter Shutter comes in many colors, allowing the homeowner to customize their gutter and use them as accents on the home or choose a color that helps Gutter Shutter blend in with their home.
Energy Saving Crawl Space
Heating a home during the winter can be expensive, and if you have an open crawl space, you're virtually burning money. A crawl space without insulation leads to cold air coming in through your foundation during the winter and hot air warming your home during the summer. Looking to save money on their energy bill and protect the health of their home year-round, this York, ME, homeowner called Dr. Energy Saver by TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate.   System Design Specialist Nima Farshid worked with the homeowner to test how energy-efficient their home is with a Blower Door Test. A Blower Door Test measures how much air leaks in or out of a building, helping the homeowner and Nima have a better understanding of what needs to be done to the home. Encapsulating the crawl space was the first step in the plan, so CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down, creating an inorganic seal between the crawl space and the earth. Vent Covers were installed to close off vents that would otherwise let outside air flow right into the crawl space. SprayFoam was installed on the walls and rim joists to insulate the crawl space. SprayFoam is a closed-cell foam that is not only a thermal barrier but also a powerful moisture barrier since it does not absorb water.   With the crawl space encapsulated with CleanSpace and sealed with SprayFoam, the homeowner now owns a more energy-efficient home that is healthier, and they no longer have to deal with cold floors in the winter and a humid crawl space during the summer.
York Crawl Space Floods When It Rains
This York, ME, home has a tendency to flood whenever it rains, which has caused the homeowner issues with musty smells from mold. The odor penetrates the floor and leaks into the home, especially during the summer months. Worried about rodents and air quality, the homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Rick Russell worked with the homeowner to design a crawl space encapsulation system that would solve their problems. To fully encapsulate the crawl space and keep moisture and critters out, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting is a durable barrier with dimples to help channel water and elevate the CleanSpace, keeping it clean. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls and seals up the crawl space, keeping moisture out. A SmartSump was installed to capture water and pump it through the new Exterior Buried Discharge line. The Discharge line takes the water far from the home and with the installation of IceGuard, the entire system is protected against ice buildup in the winter. Not only is the homeowner able to enjoy their home with better air quality and without having to worry about water in their crawl space.
