After locating some seepage coming in through their basement wall, causing water damage and mold, this homeowner began looking for solutions to this problem right away. Our team at TC Hafford Basement Systems provided a free estimate on repairs and began work on solving this problem for the homeowner as soon as our crew was available. The culprit for this moisture damage was a crack in the foundation hidden behind the drywall. To cover this crack for good, a FlexiSpan seal was applied. This three-layer seal will completely lock out moisture, preventing any future leaks through this crack. Next, to handle any moisture that may gather on this floor through other sources, a SmartSump pump was installed in the basement floor. Finally, ThermalDry flooring was installed to provide a soft, insulated surface across the basement floor. These panels have built-in channels below them to guide any water to the sump for removal before it has a chance to build up and becoming a problem.
These waterproofing measures will enable this homeowner to make use of their finished basement without fear of future water damage causing mold growth or property damage. The FlexiSpan Seal & SmartSump pump will keep this basement water-free for years into the future!
The homeowner was concerned by the consistent build-up of water around their furnace and other areas of their basement. They wished to have a dry basement all the time, so with the help of System Design Specialist, Daryl Quinn and a TC Hafford production team, their problem has been permanently fixed.
This Leeds, ME homeowner was on their wits' end after having their walls and floors ruined because of their basement flooding. They wanted to be able to finish the space and actually use it instead of their basement being an object for nightmares. Exhausted and ready to solve their water intrusion problems, the homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Nick Ciciarelli met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a waterproofing system specifically designed for their home.
Wanting their basement dry all the time, they opted for a full Slab with WaterGuard system to ensure they can finally remodel their basement without the risk of their work being ruined by water. A lot of work goes into prepping the basement for the new system, starting with Drainage Matting being laid down. Drainage Matting creates an inorganic barrier between the new slab and the outside elements while aiding in channeling water to prevent hydrostatic pressure from building up. WaterGuard is installed around the perimeter to capture water and channel it to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe Sump Pump is capable of taking all the water and pumping it out of the basement through the new Exterior Buried Discharge Line. The Buried Discharge Line takes the water far from the home where it won’t cause any issues, and with the installed IceGuard, the system is protected against ice build-up, keeping the system running all year, even during freezing winter months. To finish the waterproofing system, the slab will be poured and a SaniDry XP will be installed to keep humidity levels at a safe level. The SaniDry XP drains to the TripleSafe so the homeowner will never have to worry about emptying a bucket of water, and the SaniDry XP can do its job all the time.
Now the homeowner can remodel their basement and be confident that their basement will be dry all the time.
Without air sealing an attic, hot air is still able to penetrate loose blown-in insulation, leading to higher energy bills and an uncomfortable home. This Topsham, ME, homeowner wanted to become more energy efficient, so they booked a free estimate with Dr. Energy Saver by TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Nima Farshid met with the homeowner and performed a Blower Door Test that showed room for improvement. Nima worked with the homeowner to design a Dr. Energy Saver system that would make their home more comfortable and energy efficient.
First the old insulation was removed, and the attic was air-sealed where needed with ZypFoam. Any areas that could leak air into the home were filled in and around the chimney. Next, SilverGlo was installed for added protection, and TruSoft Cellulose installation was blown in to reinsulate the area. TruSoft Cellulose is an environmentally friendly product made from recycled materials that are treated for fire resistance. Unlike typical fiberglass insulation that will melt when presented with a flame, TruSoft Cellulose insulation will resist the flame and won’t ignite. Now the homeowner not only has a more energy efficient home, but a more comfortable and safer home thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by TC Hafford Basement Systems.
