Having recently removed some of the insulation below their home due to mold growth from moisture build up, this Bowdoin, ME homeowner was in the market for a proper vapor barrier. They contacted our office at TC Hafford Basement Systems and after they received their free estimate, the homeowner gave us the go-ahead to begin work on solving their moisture problem. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, their first task was laying a Drainage Matting across the dirt floor of the crawlspace. This mat rests just above the surface of the floor, creating channels for any blocked moisture to funnel toward the natural low point of the crawlspace where it can most easily drain back into the earth. Next, a CleanSpace liner was utilized to encapsulate the interior of the crawlspace. This bright white liner will completely lock out moisture leaking into the crawlspace, keeping the space dry while any blocked water flows through the Drainage Matting to exit back into the ground it entered through. This forms a complete vapor barrier to prevent moisture damage and mold from taking root below this home in the future.
This homeowner can now rest assured their crawlspace will remain dry throughout the year, keeping their home safe from water related damages. The CleanSpace barrier will hold back any leaking moisture for many years to come!
Since purchasing the home four years ago, this Bowdoin, ME, homeowner wanted to address the issues with their foundation and prevent it from failing. System Design Specialist Todd Bernard worked with the homeowner to design a system that would reinforce the foundation wall and prevent any damage to the home. After collaborating, Todd created a system using PowerBrace to stabilize the wall. These steel I-beams will hold the wall in its current position without requiring immediate adjustment. Over time, the PowerBrace System can be tightened to straighten bowing or tilting walls. Now, the homeowner can use their basement for storage without worry, and the health of their home is protected.
Tired of living with a damp and dirty basement floor, this homeowner decided it was time they covered it up. After consulting with our team, the homeowner was greeted by our foreman Josh Bridge. Josh then laid a CleanSpace liner across the floor of the space, keeping out moisture and providing a much more appealing surface for the homeowner.
When one of the walls in their basement began to bow and crack, this Fayette, ME homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to solve the problem before it got worse! We set them up with a free estimate where our sales representative was able to explain to the homeowner, in detail, just how we could seal these cracks and prevent more cracks from forming in the future. Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on sealing the cracks right away. To install FlexiSpan seals over each crack, a primary layer of sealant was first applied within the cracks. A thin foam pad was laid along the cracks over the first layer of sealant. To finish the seal, a second layer of sealant was applied over the top of the foam core, creating FlexiSpan seals covering each crack. These seals benefit from the foam core by being able to contort to any slight changes in the wall, maintaining their water-tight seal. Next, to prevent future bowing of the wall, PowerBrace beams were attached to the floor and spaced out along the problem-wall. These beams were then tightened against the wall using their adjustable fixtures anchored to the joists above the basement.
With the cracks sealed and their wall locked back to its original position, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about any moisture or structural problems developing in their basement. The FlexiSpan seals & PowerBrace supports will protect this basement for years into the future!
With a black mold growing in their basement and regular flooding after rainfall, this Bath, ME homeowner was looking for a solution! They called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems and following their free estimate from our sales representative, they hired us to get started on upgrading their failing sump as soon as possible. Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work on the basement by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. This trench opened enough space to lay WaterGuard piping down around the basement. After sealing these pipes in place with a fresh layer of concrete, they will act to intercept any moisture leaking through the foundation in the future. This collected water is guided through the WaterGuard to the SuperSump pump installed where the old pump had been. The SuperSump system is able to remove over 2,600 gallons of water from the home every hour. This water flow out of the home through a PVC discharge line protected by an IceGuard segment just outside the home. The IceGuard is built in a way that provides any water blocked by ice or debris a way to escape the line without backing up into the basement.
With an upgraded sump pump, this homeowner should no longer experience a flooding basement after any rainfall. Their new WaterGuard system will maintain a dry basement floor for years to come!
