Wet Basement Gets a New Slab
This Norway, ME, home had water coming up through the floor due to an old and broken slab. The homeowner wanted to be able to use the spay without their belongings getting ruined and water damaging the health of their home. Ready to take care of the issues and regain control of their basement, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and booked a free estimate. The homeowner worked with System Design Specialist Sam Crowley, who helped them design a waterproofing system with a new concrete slab.   First, the area needed to be waterproofed, so Drainage Matting was laid down on the floor and WaterGuard Perimeter Drain was installed along the walls where needed. Drainage Matting will create an inorganic barrier to protect the new slab, and WaterGuard will collect and channel water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe Sump Pump features two Zoeller sumps and a battery backup to protect the basement from water in cases of heavy rain. The TripleSafe pumps the water out of the basement through a Buried Discharge line that is protected from ice buildup with IceGuard, keeping the system running all year round without issue. CleanSpace Wall System was installed on the basement walls and attached to the WaterGuard to create a barrier and collect any water that may come in.   Next, it was important to take care of some of the structural issues in the basement, so a new Supplemental Beam was installed along with a couple of SmartJacks. SmartJacks are made of galvanized steel and are capable of being adjusted over time as needed to keep the floor above stable and level. Stabilizing the floor above protects the home from long-term damage, saving the homeowner from costly repairs. With the SmartJacks and waterproofing system installed, the basement was ready for the new slab to be poured. Not only does the basement look better than before, but the homeowner is able to use the space however they please without the risk or worry of their belongings being damaged.
o Edited: Two Basement Wall Cracks In Hanover, ME Sealed With FlexiSpan
A couple in Hanover had been living in their home for 40 years. They had recently noticed two cracks in their basement wall where water was coming in through. They were using their basement for storage at the time, and needed to stop this water from entering as soon as possible! They soon saw TC Hafford Basement Systems at a home show, and knew we were the right people for the job! They contacted us shortly after the show and we got to work! To seal the cracks, we used FlexiSpan. This is a three-tier structure, which is flexible, and able to contort to a crack, should the wall shift at all. The first layer is a layer of sealant applied directly into the crack. Next, a foam mat is laid over the top of the sealant, this is where the flexibility comes from. Finally, a second layer of sealant is applied over the foam, holding the structure in place, and completely locking out any moisture trying to enter through the crack. This FlexiSpan is sure to keep even a 40-year-old basement dry!
Hanover, ME Basement Kept Safe from the Elements with SuperSump Installation
A homeowner that lived in Hanover, ME was in the market for some basement waterproofing. After visiting a home show and seeing that TC Hafford could offer them the solution they needed, they called our office staff to ask about their free estimate. Once they spoke to our representative, they knew they were ready to move forward with the basement waterproofing. We dispatched our crew and got started on the basement! Once the installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement by installing a SuperSump device in the lowest point of the floor. This pump will take in the water gathering across this homeowners’ basement and force it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Outside the home, the discharge line carries the water away from the home before it is released through the grated opening of a LawnScape discharge port. Just where the line exits the home, an IceGuard pipe section was attached to further protect the basement from water. Now if ice were to cause a blockage in the line, the trapped water would flow out through special holes in the IceGuard instead of flowing into the basement again. With these additions to their basement installed, this homeowner can now rest assured their basement will remain water-free. The SuperSump pump will force any gathering water from the home from now-on.
PolyLevel Injection Realigns Sinking Hanover, ME Driveway
After seeing our crew installing PolyLevel for a friend, this Hanover, ME homeowner knew right away they wanted to have the same done for their driveway! They called our office staff and we scheduled a time for them to meet with our sales representative to receive a free estimate on the cost of the project. Happy with the details, the homeowner hired us to get their driveway realigned with their garage as soon as possible! Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they were able to get to work right away leveling the driveway. First, several small holes were drilled in through the driveway slab to give access to beneath the concrete. Next, PolyLevel was injected in through these holes, where it rapidly and forcefully expands below. This raises the driveway with each injection until it perfectly realigns with the garage slab it once was level with. Once the PolyLevel completely dries, it will harden and keep the driveway held in place for many years to come!
Crack-Repair in Oxford, ME Solves Homeowners Moisture Problems
A homeowner living in Oxford, ME had noticed their basement becoming unusually damp. They soon found the cuase of the problem being a crack that had opened along one of the walls of the basement. Having heard of us on their TV, they quickly called us to have the issue taken care of before it got worse. As soon as our crew arrived at the home, they began work on sealing the crack using FlexiSpan. First, a coarse brush was used to clear the crack of any debris that would interfere with the sealant. Next, the first layer of sealant was applied within the crack. This was then covered with a foam matting that will act as the backbone of the FlexiSpan seal. Finally, a second layer of sealant was spread over the foam to lock the structure in place over the crack. Now this crack will no longer leak water into this basement! With the crack in their basement wall selaed properly, this homeowner won't suffer from a damp basement any more. The FlexiSpan will prevent any leaks that would have otherwise entered through this crack.
Attic Insulation with Dr. Energy Saver is Oxford, ME
A homeowner in Oxford, Maine, reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems after noticing uncomfortable temperature swings in their home, especially during the winter months. The homeowner wanted to improve the overall insulation of their attic, which was causing the cold to seep into the living areas.   Our team came out to assess the situation and discovered that the attic’s insulation was not only outdated but also insufficient to keep the home energy efficient. After evaluating the homeowner's needs, we recommended a solution that involved installing Dr. Energy Saver spray foam and Zip Foam for maximum insulation coverage. We also added TrueSoft cellulose to the attic floor to provide even more thermal protection and prevent air leakage. The combination of these products would help create a well-insulated barrier, ensuring that the homeowner could enjoy a more comfortable home all year round.
A 5 Year Crawl Space Moisture Problem Gone
This Oxford, ME, homeowner has lived in their home for 20 years, and within the last five years, they have noticed moisture in their crawl space getting worse and worse. They only go into their crawl space a few times a year, but they are worried about mold—and rightfully so. Looking to solve their problems and turn their crawl space into a usable storage area for more than a few lawn chairs, they reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Sam Crowley met the homeowner and went into their crawl space to survey and measure the area and check for humidity and any other issues that could be causing the homeowner trouble. Together, Sam and the homeowner designed an encapsulation system that would seal up their crawl space and protect the health of the home from any outside elements.   To start the encapsulation process, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down. Drainage Matting creates a gap for groundwater to move under and be channeled to a sump pump. CleanSpace and Drainage Matting both create an inorganic barrier that keeps the elements outside without degrading over time. CleanSpace is then attached to the rim joist with SprayFoam to create a tougher seal, ensuring that CleanSpace will hold tight for the lifetime of the home. In case the homeowner decides to install a sump pump later on, a Sump Liner is installed; that way, in the future, the CleanSpace system will not have to be disturbed. CleanSpace Vent Covers were installed to enclose the crawl space, ensuring outside air would not penetrate its way into the crawl space, hindering the system. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to keep humidity at a safe level, and to make sure the homeowner never has to empty a bucket of water, a Condensate Pump is attached to the SaniDry Sedona to pump the water out of the home.   After working together, Sam Crowley and the homeowner were able to design an encapsulation system that is now protecting their crawl space. The homeowner also has the benefit of using the crawl space as a storage area where their belongings will be safe and protected from humidity and any critters that used to find their way into the crawl space.

No Need To Climb a Ladder With Gutter Shutter
Growing tired of having to climb a ladder more and more or asking a friend to clean their clogged gutters, this South Portland, ME, homeowner was ready for a change. The homeowner called Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Josh Hamel met with the homeowner, and together they designed a Gutter Shutter system that would keep them off the ladder of their 1950’s home.   Gutter Shutter features a seamless design with a gutter guard for added protection, keeping the system clog-free and working all the time. Gutter guards prevent blockages created by a build-up of leaves, twigs, and any other debris that could fall on the homeowner’s roof. Keeping organic material out of the gutter also prevents a number of issues, such as mildew growth, rotting fascia, roof damage, and basement flooding. Gutter Shutter is formed and cut on location to the specific needs of the home. Since the gutters are cut on location, the gutters can be as long or short as necessary without the need to seam two gutters together, creating a unified product that is less susceptible to issues.   The homeowner no longer needs to climb a ladder and is protected with Gutter Shutter installed on their home.
