FlexiSpan & SuperSump Installation Protect Brewer, ME Basement from Leaking Water

Living in Brewer, ME, this homeowner was having trouble keeping their basement dry with a crack in the wall leaking during any rainfall. Looking to quickly remedy this problem, the homeowner contacted our office staff at TC Hafford Basement Systems, and we were able to set them up with a free estimate. Following their estimate, they gave us the green light and our installation crew was soon dispatched to the home to begin work. To keep water from entering the problem crack in the future, a FlexiSpan seal was applied over the top of the crack. This seal is built with a foam core to allow structure to bend slightly and remain adhered to any slight changes in the shape of the crack. Once the FlexiSpan seal was complete, a SuperSump pump was installed in the floor of the basement. This device will take in any water that otherwise would have gathered on the floors surface in a pool and force it from the home through a PVC discharge system.

Removing water at a rate over 2,600 gallons per hour, the SuperSump will maintain a dry basement floor for this homeowner for years to come! These waterproofing installations will enable this homeowner to make use of their basement without the need to worry about water damage anymore.

Save Your Failing Foundation and Your Wallet

Built in the early 1900s, this home was constructed with a rock foundation, which has started to fail in the last five years. Worried about the foundation wall failing, the homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. System Design Specialist Mark Smith met with the homeowner, where they put together a solution for their failing wall. Together, they decided that StableLock would be the best choice to save their foundation, preventing the homeowner from having to get a whole new foundation. Unlike pouring a new foundation, StableLock doesn’t require a homeowner to raise or leave their home. Using modern forming techniques, StableLock fills voids and stabilizes existing walls to leave a smooth, strong wall with the best qualities of a newly constructed basement wall.

Rock, brick, and stone foundations can be found all throughout the great state of Maine, and if you too have a failing foundation, don’t wait until it is too late. Call TC Hafford Basement Systems and ask about StableLock.

Newly Purchased Home with a Wet Basement

This Surry, ME, homeowner recently moved into their new home and was quickly introduced to the problems with a wet basement. Water was coming into the basement through the floor and walls during rains. The homeowner wanted to take care of the problem, protect the health of their home, and regain the ability to use the space. The homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems, and System Design Specialist Mark Smith worked with them to design a waterproofing system that would take care of their issues, which included a new Slab with WaterGuard.

Waterproofing The Area

Debris was removed from the basement, and the ground was regraded to prep the area for waterproofing. Drainage Matting was installed to create an inorganic barrier that would channel water to the sump and protect the new slab. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter and connected to a new TripleSafe Sump Pump. WaterGuard captures and channels water to the TripleSafe, which features two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup. The TripleSafe drains water out of the basement and through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that is protected against ice buildup with IceGuard. CleanSpace Wall System was installed to act as a vapor barrier where needed and channel any additional moisture from the walls to the WaterGuard.

New Slab and SprayFoam

Now that the area was fully prepped and waterproofed, the new slab was ready to be poured. The new slab turned the space into an area that the homeowner can use without the risk of their belongings or appliances being damaged. SprayFoam was installed on the rim joists and walls to insulate the area, keeping cold air out during the winter, making the space more comfortable, and saving the homeowner money on their energy bill. Finishing out the full waterproofing system was the installation of a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The SaniDry Sedona drains directly to the TripleSafe, which allows the basement to be kept at a safe humidity level all of the time without the homeowner having to empty a bucket of water to keep it running.

The homeowner has now gained control over their basement, and their home is healthier than it has been in years, and the space can be used as the homeowner would like.

Damp Crawl Space Issues Gone

For 24 years, this Orono, ME, crawl space has been damp and musty. Ready to fix the issues with their crawl space and protect their home, the homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Alan Noyes drove out to the home and worked with the homeowner to design an encapsulation system that would seal their basement up and keep moisture out.

To keep moisture out of the crawl space and get rid of the musty smell, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting needed to be installed. Drainage Matting is a tough, dimpled mat that creates a gap, protecting the CleanSpace and channels water to the low spot if a sump pump is installed. CleanSpace is a durable vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls and seals the space, protecting the crawl space from moisture and small critters that can otherwise cause damage. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed in the crawl space and connected to a Condensate Pump. The SaniDry Sedona keeps the humidity in the crawl space at a safe level, and with the addition of the Condensate Pump, the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket of water, and the SaniDry will always run when it is needed to. Now, the homeowner is happy as their crawl space is no longer damp and causing a musty smell to penetrate through their floors.

WaterGuard & TripleSafe Installation Upgrades Failing Old Town, ME Sump

With a relatively old sump pump in their basement, this Old Town, ME homeowner had begun to notice their basement would retain some water after rainfall. Looking to remedy this problem, the homeowner hired us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. As soon as our crew was able to get out to the home, they began work on the basement foundation by installing a WaterGuard piping system around the majority of the perimeter of the space. These pipes lay beneath the surface of the floor where they trap incoming water and guide it to the TripleSafe pump installed in the existing sump. The TripleSafe will force any collected water out of the home through a PVC discharge line protected by both an IceGuard and LawnScape segments. With both the WaterGuard system as well as a TripleSafe pump, this basement will now be protected against moisture build up without the water ever reaching the surface of the floor and remain protected even during power outages.

Now that their basement is properly waterproofed, this homeowner can utilize the space without fearing water damaging their property. The WaterGuard piping will keep this basement floor dry for years into the future.
