Cape Porpoise, ME - CleanSpace & SuperSump Installation
Challenge
A wet crawlspace plagued this homeowner. The moisture leaking in from the surrounding soil was not only causing damp conditions, but a nasty smell as well. Tired of living with this crawlspace, the homeowner decided to do something about it!
Solution
After receiving the call, TC Hafford Basement Systems was on the scene. In order to dry this basement, we needed to keep the water out. To remove the majority of the water, we installed a SuperSump sump pump in a sump we dug out in the floor of the crawlspace. This pump will force any collected water out through a PVC discharge line. We then attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump to keep it pumping even without power from the home. Now any pooled-up water will be removed before having the chance to cause any harm to the crawlspace.
Next, we encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner covers every wall, as well as the floor. Being made of a thin plastic, the CleanSpace locks out moisture from reaching the interior of the crawlspace. This will cause any moisture that does manage to leak in to collect within the sump and be removed. To finish this project, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier within the space. This will cycle through the air within the crawlspace, removing any moisture and passing it to the sump to be pumped out.
Now this homeowner has a dry crawlspace, complete with dry, healthy air! No more musty smell and no more damp conditions.
