Challenge
A moist crawlspace can be a nuisance for any homeowner. The moisture could lead to mold growth, which could even cause harm to them. This is why James of Phippsburg, ME came to TC Hafford Basement Systems to get his wet crawlspace dried properly!
Solution
To begin, we needed to be able to remove any major puddles that might form on the floor. To do this, we installed a SmartSump in the floor of the crawlspace. That way if any water accumulates, it will be pumped out through a PVC discharge line. Where the discharge line exits the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece just outside the home. This is a special piece with built in holes to allow the water to escape the pipe should the lower end become blocked. The end of the line also received a LawnScape attachment, where the water is released into the ground.
We then encapsulated the entire crawlspace with a CleanSpace liner, save for the ceiling. This covers every surface with a thin plastic, locking out any moisture that would have tried to leak into the interior of the space. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. This takes in the moisture from the air in the crawlspace and deposits it into the sump pump. Now any moisture within the crawlspace is removed before it can cause any harm.
With a newly waterproofed crawlspace, James can live worry free now that the mold will die off due to lack of moisture!
