Rockport, ME - CleanSpace & Drainage Matting Installation
Challenge
A wet crawlspace plagued this homeowner in Rockport, ME. Mold had started to grow and they needed a solution fast. Luckily, TC Hafford Basement Systems had just the right thing!
Solution
In order to keep the water out of the crawlspace, we needed to install a pump to remove the water, and a vapor barrier to keep future water out. We started by digging a hold to install a SmartSump sump pump. This pump will take in and pump out any water gathering on the crawlspace floor. We also installed a SaniDry XP to pull the moisture out of the air, feeding it to the sump to be removed.
We then began work on the vapor barrier by laying down a Drainage Matting around the inside perimeter of the crawlspace. This lined the floor/wall joint, and acted to hold back the entering moisture, allowing it time to drain back into the soil or flow to the sump for evacuation. Finally, we encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace Liner. This is a thin plastic sheet that covers every surface on the floor and walls. Completely locking out moisture, this sheet will maintain a dry surface within the crawlspace.
With the water locked out and the air dry, this homeowner now has no more moisture problem! Without moisture, the mold growth will die off on its own.
