Litchfield, ME - Vapor Barrier Installation
Challenge
A dirt crawlspace with no vapor barrier is highly likely to flood during heavy rains. This was exactly the case for Freda, and she called TC Hafford to do something about it!
Solution
Once our crew arrived to begin the job, we needed to re-grade the floor and remove any excess debris. This would allow us to install everything easily and properly. We then created a sump in the floor where we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This would take any built up moisture and pump it out of the home. The water is evacuated through a PVC discharge line.
We then laid our Drainage Matting around the inside perimeter of the crawlspace floor. This covers the wall/floor joint, holding back entering moisture, and allowing it time to drain back into the soil. After this, we completely encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This is a special plastic liner that water cannot pass through. Any moisture trying to come through, will either drain away, or flow to the sump, where it will be pumped out. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier to remove the moisture from the air in the space. This will guarantee no mold has the proper living condition to grow or spread.
With a brand new vapor barrier and peace of mind, Freda now lives with a dry crawlspace!
