Job Stories From Winthrop, ME
WaterGuard Saves Winthrop, ME Basement From Water Damage

A homeowner in Winthrop had a problem with water leaking into his basement through the walls and floor. This was damaging his belongings he was storing in his basement, and he needed a way to stop the water as soon as possible. The homeowner got online and searched for a way to solve this problem, soon finding TC Hafford Basement Systems and choosing us to get the job done. They gave us a call the next day and we had a representative head to the home to look at the basement and give the homeowner a free estimate on the cost of the solution. We got the green light and began work!

We started the job by digging up the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This gave us a trench to lay down our WaterGuard pipe system. This is a special pipe made to capture water as it tries to enter the basement through the walls or floor, guiding it then to the sump. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump into the sump in the basement. This is where the WaterGuard is leading the water. Once the water reaches the SuperSump, it is pushed up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. This homeowner now can sleep worry free that his belongings are dry and safe in his basement.

Damp Basement in Winthrop, ME, Dried and Sealed

A homeowner in Winthrop had been experiencing issues with a wet basement since they first moved into their house. This wasn’t too big of a problem for the homeowner, until they changed the pitch of their roof. After this, somehow even more water began to enter the basement. This is when, after seeing an ad on TV, the homeowner decided to contact TC Hafford.

We got to work starting by installing a WaterGuard waterproofing system. This is a pipe that encapsulates the interior perimeter of the basement. It sits slightly under the floor, and captures any water entering through either the walls or the floor. We then connected this WaterGuard system to a SuperSump sump pump. This pump takes the water from the basement and pushed it up and out of the basement. On the outside of the house, we finished this project with an IceGuard piece. This section of pipe allows for water to escape the pipe should ice or other debris block the flow further along. These newly implemented systems working together should keep this homeowner happy, and the basement dry.

Our home was built in 1784 and has a partial dug basement and crawlspace. We'd like to minimize the humidity under the home and are hoping that any improvements will help mitigate the radon as well.

The concrete on the corner of my attached garage needs repair. It looks structural, but I'm not an expert. I can do concrete work, but would be looking for a professional to do so if this is a structural concern.

I have a cellar drain that is tied into my underground perimeter drain system. When we get heavy rain, my cellar drain backs up with the water from my perimeter drain. This floods my basement. I would like to get a sump pump system or something suggested by your company to take care of this problem.

Project Location: Winthrop, ME
Portion of house is on a crawl space. The space is damp and the smell emanates through the floor into the living space above. I also suspect that it is an entry point for tiny critters (so says my cat).
Project Location: Winthrop, ME
We had our home built in 1982 and over the years we have had occasional water in the basement following a very heavy rain (usually in the spring). Might have gotten a couple inches by the drain whole but just a fraction of an inch on the other side of the basement. While we had some wall leakage it was minimal. It appears the water comes from the cellar floor drain. Note, we are not on town sewer but rather have a septic tank. About 10 or 15 years ago I put a plastic pipe in the drain hole and sealed it. That seemed to work perfectly until last December when water seeped back into the basement. My best assessment was that the sealed pipe system I as used got loosened so I replaced it - don't think I did a good job because this past Monday/Tuesday with the heavy rain I got the most water ever in the basement. I can't see that the water comes from any other source other than the drain when the water table rises. Desperate! Can you help? Thank you.

We have a slab foundation and one of the corners has started to crumble a little bit. We are hoping to put the house on the market this winter/spring but we will need to address this issue first and I was hoping we could get an estimate for it.
