Renowned Basement Waterproofing & Foundation Repair Contractor in Pownal, ME

Having lived with a wet basement for some time, this Pownal, ME homeowner thought it was time they did something about the problem! Having to mop up any gathering water after rainfall, the homeowner was looking for a way to automate the process. They took to the internet to find a solution and soon discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems. The homeowner called us right away to set up their free estimate and our sales representative was dispatched to take a look at the basement. After hearing their options, the homeowner made their selection and we were able to get started on waterproofing this basement!

As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on installing a WaterGuard piping system right away. This system rests just below the surface of the concrete floor, around the outer most edge of the basement. Buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, the WaterGuard will now capture the leaking moisture and guide it directly to the SuperSump pump that we installed in the floor where it will be removed from the home through a PVC discharge line. Next, an UltraSump backup battery was installed and connected to the SuperSump to keep it operational even during power-outages in the home. Now during any rainy weather, any leakage will flow from the WaterGuard to the SuperSump and be pumped from the home through a PVC discharge line.

Following this line outside, two additional pieces were attached to better waterproof the basement. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe segment attached just beyond where the line leaves the home. This piece has special upward facing holes built-in that allow for only trapped water to escape. Now if ice or debris were to clog the line, the water would escape before flooding back into the basement. Finally, the water will exit the end of the line through the grate of a LawnScape discharge port. This grate will hold back debris that would otherwise easily block up the discharge line while allowing the water to easily flow out onto the ground to drain away harmlessly.

Now that this homeowner has a fully functional waterproofing system in place, they can be at ease during any rainfall knowing they won’t need to manually remove the water. The WaterGuard & SuperSump will operate in tandem to keep this basement completely water-free!

When our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the forcing the wall back to its original position. This required the use of a PowerBrace system. The PowerBrace is installed by placing several steel I-beams along the face of the bowing basement wall. The base of the PowerBraces are screwed into the foundation of the basement, locked in place against the lower side of the wall. The top of each beam is then secured into the joists in the ceiling of the basement, within an apparatus that allows the top of the beams to be tightened against the wall. These are then tightened over time until the wall is back in the original position, where the beams will keep it locked for the future!

Now that the PowerBrack system has been implemented in this homeowners basement, they can rest assured their basement won't suffer any major damage from a potential cave-in.
