Looking to keep humidity out of the crawlspace below their home, this Manchester, ME homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. After receiving their free estimate, they hired us to provide a proper vapor barrier within the space. Our installation crew got started by laying a Drainage Matting across the dirt floor of the crawlspace. This layer rests just off the surface of the floor to create small channels that moisture can flow through without becoming trapped. The water will pool up in the natural low point of the space on its own to drain harmlessly back into the ground. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the entire interior of the crawlspace. This waterproof layer finishes the vapor barrier installation, providing the protection against moisture accumulation the homeowner was seeking. Now during harsh rain or melting snow, any leaking moisture will be blocked by the CleanSpace without gathering in the crawlspace and causing humidity problems for the property owner.

With a proper vapor barrier in place, this Manchester, ME homeowner can rest assured their moisture problems are a thing of the past. The Drainage Matting & CleanSpace combination will maintain a dry crawlspace below this home for many years into the future.

SunHouse Installation Provides Plenty of Lighting for Manchester, ME Basement

A homeowner living in Manchester, ME had just about completed the process of finishing their basement. One of the final things they needed was proper lighting. With only a couple of small, old windows, the basement wasn’t getting much light during the daytime. Looking to have this corrected, the homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems shortly after looking at our website online. Our office staff set them up with a free estimate and they soon met with one of our sales representatives to talk about their options. After the homeowner selected what work they wanted done, we got started!

When our installation crew arrived at the home, the existing windows were removed to make room for their replacements. Where the previous windows were located, two Everlast Windows were installed. These windows are maintenance-free and have a bright-white appearance to help brighten the room. Next, four SunHouse windows were installed around the basement. These windows, sitting high up on the walls, are usually buried beneath the ground level with the home. However, the SunHouse is equipped with a solid white semicircle “shield” that will keep the surrounding ground at bay. Now when light enters this pocket and bounces off the shield, the light will be focused into the basement, greatly brightening up the space during the day.

With their new windows in place, this homeowner is now a few steps closer to their finished basement! These windows will keep this basement bright while requiring little to no maintenance in the future.

Sump Upgrade Keeps Manchester, ME Basement Water-Free

A homeowner that lived in Manchester, ME had been living with an issue building beneath their home. Water would gather across the floor of their basement during any rain, preventing the homeowner from using the space for any reason. Unsure how to keep the water out, the homeowner took to the internet to find a solution. As soon as they found us at TC Hafford, they called us to get a free estimate done. They liked what we offered and hired us to get the job done!

When our installation crew arrived at the home, they got to work giving this basement a proper sump system to keep out any future leakages. A SuperSump pump was installed in the floor of the basement, which will handle the removal of any water. This pump can output water at a rate of 2,650 gallons per hour, plenty of power to keep any rainfall at bay. Nearby, an UltraSump was installed and connected to the SuperSump. The UltraSump is a battery that will activate during power-outages to maintain a dry basement even in harsh conditions. The water collected within the SuperSump follows a PVC discharge line up and out of the home where it is deposited on the ground a distance from the home.

Now that they have a waterproofing system in place, this homeowner can now make use of their basement without needing to fear water damage. However heavy the rain, the SuperSump will prevent this baseemnt from flooding for years to come.

TripleSafe Protects Manchester, ME Basement From Water Damage

A couple in Manchester were experiencing a problem with water pooling up around their sump. The water wasn’t draining away like it used to. Seeking professional help, the homeowners got online and searched for their solution there. This is where they found TC Hafford Basement Systems. They called us soon after to arrange to receive their free estimate. We sent out our representative to inspect the basement and do just that. After reviewing their options, the homeowners gave us the green light and we got to work!

To give the homeowners a functioning sump, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe is composed of three pumps. The primary pump handles the bulk of the water. While the secondary pump will take on the bulk should the primary fail for any reason. The third pump is a battery backup pump, which will only switch on should the power go out. The water gathered in the TripleSafe will be pumped out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. On the outside of the home, we attached an IceGuard filter to the line. This IceGuard will allow water to continue to flow from the basement in the event that the lower end of the pipe becomes blocked by ice, or any other debris.

Now this couple can rest assure that water will no longer pool up around their sump, but will be forced out of the basement, thanks to their TripleSafe pump.
