WaterGuard Installation Protects Durham, ME Basement from Standing Water

WaterGuard Installation Protects Durham, ME Basement from Standing Water WaterGuard Installation Protects Durham, ME Basement from Standing Water

Even with a sump in their basement floor, this Durham, ME homeowner would still find standing water gathering on the floor. Tired of needing to vacuum this water out themselves, the homeowner contacted us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to see if we could provide a solution to their problem. After receiving their free estimate, this homeowner gave us the go-ahead to begin work on their basement. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on the basement floor by excavating the perimeter to create room for our WaterGuard piping to be laid. Buried below a fresh layer of concrete around the perimeter of the floor, these pipes will capture moisture entering the basement through the foundation. The trapped moisture will flow through the WaterGuard to the nearby SuperSump pump that was connected directly to the piping. This new pump will force the water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line at a rate over 2,600 gallons per hour. Finally, IceGuard and LawnScape pipe segments were attached to the discharge line to provide further protection. The IceGuard section gives any water blocked by ice a path to escape the line before backing up into the home while the LawnScape end piece covers the line with a grate to keep out any debris that may cause blockages.

With the WaterGuard gathering leaking moisture and the SuperSump removing it from the home, this homeowner should no longer find their basement flooded after any rainfall!

Cracked Basement Wall in Durham, ME, Fixed With FlexiSpan

A homeowner in Durham noticed a crack in their basement wall, this could lead to potential water leakage. Having done business with us in the past, the homeowner gave TC Hafford Basement Systems a call! We had a representative on site shortly after to give an estimate on the crack repair. Once the homeowner decided, we got to work. The crack was first filled with a sealant. This acts as the first line of defence against water trying to enter the crack, but won’t be enough for a permanent fix. We then laid down a foam matting over the top of the sealant. This foam is finally covered with a layer of sealant. This technique, called FlexiSpan, completely locks out any water trying to enter through the crack. The way the FlexiSpan is layered allows it to be flexible and conform to the crack should it shift at all. Problem solved!

In my crawl space, I have rotted floor joists that need replacing as well as sills that need to be replaced. About 10 years ago, I replaced some joists and sills with pressure treated wood but now have other parts that need repair. In addition, I would like an estimate for a vapor barrier to prevent future problems as well.

Project Location: Durham, ME
Since we moved in this house, we never had any water issues until this year, and the hole in the corner of the basement that usually might act as a drain, started flooding our basement instead. We put in a cheap pump from harbor freight with an auto shut off that seems to be working for now. We are also looking at finishing our basement and getting quotes to be able to accomplish this. We believe we need to seal it, make it water proof, get a more permanent pump solution, more insulation, etc... but aren't totally confident in what we might want or need and would like someone to take a look. Are you able to assist with this?
Project Location: Durham, ME
Last week we had heavy rain Thursday, and Friday. We discovered water in our basement in a isolated area. Unfortunately it is in the area where I've finished off the walls for a common area and room. I'm looking for some advice, I'm not sure if there is an outside drainage issue or if we have a crack in the foundation and water is coming down between the patio and foundation and leaking in. Before you come look at it I guess I would need to remove some sheetrock, and insulation to open it up so we can get a better idea of what's happening. Is that correct? If so I'll work on that in the next few days. I'm very concerned, worried about cost, and am willing to do a lot of work to cut costs and make it easier for you. Thank you. Brad.

Need to insulate with humidity barrier the crawl space under my house. The old one was ruined by chipmunks and mice.
Project Location: Durham, ME
We are getting water coming in to our basements (2 separate) after heavy rainfall. Water appears to be coming in at the seam of the concrete floor and walls, almost all of the way around. We are also seeing water coming in around the well and septic lines, down a flu, and starting to come up through some hairline cracks in the basement floor. Our main basement does not have a pump or floor drain and has radiant heat run in the poured floor. The second, adjacent basement has a floor drain and does not have radiant heat run through it or a pump installed. The second basement is almost never accessed, and we don't know as much about the issue there.
