A Bridgton, ME homeowner has lived in their home for over 40 years and noticed signs that their crawl space needed some help. Musty smells and signs of damage began to raise concerns, so the homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems to get help protecting the health and resale value of their home.
System Design Specialist Sam Crowley met with the homeowner to address the issues in the crawl space. The homeowner also wanted to address the issue of cold floors in the winter and groundwater seeping into the crawl space. A system was designed specifically for this crawl space, and Foreman Joshua and his crew installed it. They started by regrading the dirt floor to ensure a level ground, then laid CleanSpace with Drainage Matting. Power Braces were installed to stabilize the walls, and spray foam was used to help encapsulate the crawl space, keeping outside elements outside. Finally, a Smart Sump was installed and connected to an exterior Discharge Line that was buried so it would be out of sight and could carry any water far from the home, where it would no longer pose an issue.

In the past four years, this Scarborough, ME, homeowner has had to worry about basement flooding and appliances getting wet. During heavy rains, the sump pump would often fail, leading to up to two inches of water, making it unsafe for the homeowner to use the basement for storage. After calling TC Hafford Basement Systems, System Design Specialist Jordan Tarbox met with the homeowner. Following a thorough review of the basement, he worked with the homeowner to design a waterproofing system to protect the home and prevent water damage.
A total of 81 feet of WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement, with four WaterGuard Ports for easy cleaning. A TripleSafe Sump Pump System to pump the water outside of the home through a buried discharge line. IceGuard was also installed on the discharge line to prevent ice buildup, ensuring the system remains optimized, even during harsh winters.

This musty crawlspace in Bridgton, ME, was collecting more water than the homeowner cared for, and needed some improvements. After seeing TC Hafford Basement Systems on TV, the homeowner gave us a call and set up a meeting. Once Peter Folsom understood the situation and what the homeowner wanted done, the crew came in and got the job done in the same day they started. For this crawlspace, to keep water to a minimum, the ground was lined with a Drainage Matting, which was then covered over by a CleanSpace Liner. This allowed the water to drain out of the crawl space, while keeping the moisture and bacteria locked out of the crawlspace. This was a quick job that left out client happy.
A homeowner in Harpswell had a crack in their basement that was on the side of their home with a deck attached. This meant the issue had to be fixed from the inside; which is where TC Hafford Basement System came in. After an internet search, the homeowner found our site and contacted us to come out and get the job done. The problem was quickly resolved using FlexiSpan to cover the crack in the wall and keep it sealed for the future. This interior fix allowed for the deck to remain unharmed on the outside, while keeping water out of the basement, leaving the customer satisfied.
Carl from Gray, Maine, was having water enter his basement through a large crack in one of the walls. This was an issue for Carl, because not only did this cause damp conditions and humid air; but it also would allow the basement to flood during heavy rains. Carl quickly reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems once he heard about us through a friend.
After Carl spoke with Mike Morin, TC Hafford was soon on the scene. Our workers quickly filled the crack with a 7.5' urethane injection. This injection sealed the crack, no longer allowing any water to slip through from the outside. Leaving Carl happy, and his basement dry.
A homeowner in Harrison was having trouble with their current sump pump. They had contacted TC Hafford at a previous residence for basement work; and now gave us another call to get this new basement done! His current sump pump wasn’t pumping water like it used to. Water was starting to collect in and around the sump for extended periods of time. We had a representative head out to take a look and offer potential solutions. Once the homeowner decided on what they wanted done, we got to work!
We started the job by removing the old pump. It wasn’t going to be doing the homeowner any good anymore. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump into the old sump. This new sump should do the trick when it comes to pushing out the water that gathers in the sump. Finally, on the outside of the house, we attached an IceGuard filter to the PVC discharge line. This will ensure water continues to drain should the lower end of the pipe become blocked by ice or debris. Now this homeowner is worry free with a dry basement!
A homeowner in Sebago was noticing puddles of water starting to gather in his crawlspace. This was an immediate problem, but he was unsure how to go about fixing it. He soon saw an ad on his television for TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call. We had a representative out to his home in no time to see what could be done.
The first thing our crew got to work on was installing a Drainage Matting around the crawlspace. This will allow any water coming in to slide underneath itself, rather than out into the crawlspace. Then the crawlspace was completely covered with a CleanSpace Liner. This locks out any water between itself and the walls/floor. Not allowing any to pass through into the interior of the crawlspace. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX Dehumidifier, to dry out any moisture in the air. This final step is important because moist air can lead to mold growth. Not only can mold cause a nasty smell, but it can cause health problems as well. Now this homeowner is worry free!
Bill from Pownal had a mold problem in his crawlspace. This problem needed to be solved, because mold is a very big health risk. After a quick google search, Bill found TC Hafford, and chose to go with us. After checking out the crawlspace, we got to work! We started by laying down a Drainage Matting. This matting will keep water from entering the interior of the basement, even if it seeps in through the walls or floor. We then encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner completely locks out moisture. Maintaining a dry atmosphere within the crawlspace for the future. Now Bill is worry free.
A homeowner in Peaks Island had a crawlspace that would gather water whenever it would rain. The homeowner needed to fix this leakage before it caused any damage. They logged online and searched for a solution. This is where they came across TC Hafford Basement Systems. Soon after they contacted us, we had a representative out at the home to inspect the crawlspace and give a free estimate about what work we could do to stop the leaking. Once the homeowner gave us the go ahead, we got to work!
Our crew began by laying down a drainage matting to prevent moisture, entering from the perimeter, from making its way into the center of the crawlspace. Next, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner locks the moisture outside the crawlspace; not allowing passage from the exterior to the interior, like cement does. The SmartSump sump pump was the next item installed. With an UltraSump backup battery, this SmartSump will pump any collected moisture up and out of the crawlspace, keeping it off the floors. Finally, we placed a SaniDry CX inside the crawlspace to dehumidify any remaining moisture lingering in the air. Completely drying out this homeowner’s crawlspace, and maintaining the dry atmosphere for the future!
Rachel in New Gloucester had a crawlspace that was in dire need of waterproofing. The crawlspace would collect water every time it would rain. This water was creating an excellent environment for mold to grow within. Rachel needed to stop this from happening, and she found the perfect solution on her television; when she saw an ad for TC Hafford Basement Systems. She contacted us soon after and received a free estimate on what we could do to help solve her problem.
We started work on the crawlspace by wrapping a Drainage Matting around the interior perimeter of the crawlspace. This matting will prevent the watering entering through the wall or in through the joint between the wall and the floor. Keeping it out until it is able to drain back out of the crawlspace. Next, we covered the floors and walls with a CleanSpace Liner. This completely locks out any moisture trying to enter, maintaining a dry atmosphere within the crawlspace. Now mold growth is no longer a concern for this homeowner!
A couple of homeowners in Orrs Island were having water enter their basement though one of the corners. Normally, water wouldn’t be an issue for their basement, because they had a sump system in place to pump out any water. However, this water was collecting in puddles before reaching the sump, thus not allowing for it to be pumped out. This would leave the basement damp and smelly for days after it rained. Needing a solution, they got online and found TC Hafford Basement Systems. They contacted us soon after and we had a representative sent out to give a free estimate on the cost to fix the problem. The homeowners gave the go ahead and we got to work!
To start, we dug a trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This allowed us to place a WaterGuard pipe system, which was then covered in loose rocks and cemented in place. The WaterGuard system will capture water as it seeps into the basement through the floor or walls. The water is then guided to the sump within the basement for removal. Underneath a door in the basement which lead outside, we used a TrenchDrain section of pipe. This connects to the WaterGuard and any water trying to slip in under the door is caught here and follows the WaterGuard like the rest of the water. Now with their new WaterGuard system in place, this couple no longer has a damp basement after rain!
A homeowner in Cumberland Foreside was having trouble with moisture gathering in their basement. The moisture would come in through the walls and floor, then gather into puddles around the basement. Needing this to come to an end, the homeowner got online and found a solution; TC Hafford Basement Systems. After being contacted, we gave the homeowner a free estimate and started work on the basement!
We first excavated the inside perimeter of the basement floor. The resulting trench us space to lay down a WaterGuard pipe system. This system is then buried under loose rocks and cement, to hide it within the floor while still allowing it to function properly. The WaterGuard will capture water as it enters the basement through the floor or walls, and guide it to the sump. In the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump will take the collected water and push it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. On the outside of the home, we attached an IceGuard piece to the PVC discharge line. This IceGuard is designed to prevent a back-up in the sump by allowing water to continue to flow even if the lower end of the discharge line becomes blocked for any reason. This homeowner now no longer has any puddles gathering in his basement, thanks to the WaterGuard.
Nathan in West Baldwin was in the market for a vapor barrier for his crawlspace. Moisture would find its way in during rain, and this was causing problems in the home. Mold was beginning to grow and cause the crawlspace to smell, persuading Nathan even further to pursue a solution to his problem. He soon got online and found TC Hafford Basement Systems, who he called right then. We had a representative out at the home in no time to give a free estimate. Nathan chose what work he wanted done and we got started!
We began by lining the interior perimeter of the crawlspace with a Drainage Matting. This mat will hold out any moisture trying to find its way into the crawlspace, and allow it time to drain. Next, we covered the walls and floor with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner locks out all moisture on the exterior of the crawlspace. Now Nathan has a proper moisture barrier to keep his crawlspace dry even in the heaviest of rain!
A homeowner in Bailey Island was looking for a proper vapor barrier for their crawlspace. They needed it done the right way the first time, so they weren’t spending money, only to spend more shortly after. They did their research, and found that TC Hafford Basement Systems was their best bet! They gave us a call and we had a representative head over to give the homeowner their free estimate. We then got to work by encapsulating the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This will lock out any moisture trying to enter the crawlspace through the walls or floor. Now the homeowner has a properly installed vapor barrier that will last and maintain a dry, healthy atmosphere within their crawlspace for years to come.
Joe from Long Island had a crawlspace that would regularly take on water during rain. This was beginning to cause a smell, which was an obvious sign of mold growth, and Joe needed this the water dealt with. He logged online and found a solution in no time, TC Hafford Basement Systems. After we got the call, we dispatched a representative to inspect the crawlspace and determine the best potential fixes to stop the water leakage; giving Joe a free estimate on how much the repairs would cost. He decided on which fix he wanted and our crew got to work!
We began by laying a Drainage Matting around the interior perimeter of the wall/floor joint. This mat will hold back moisture coming in through the joint, allowing it time to drain back out through the floor. We then encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This is a plastic sheet that locks out all water trying to leak in through the walls or floor. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This will dry out the air within the crawlspace, maintaining a dry and healthy atmosphere. Now Joe has a dry crawlspace, which will remain dry for years to come.
A couple in Little Deer Isle was looking for a vapor barrier for their crawlspace. Water was coming in through the foundation and pooling up inside the crawlspace. Searching for a solution online, they came across TC Hafford Basement Systems. We were the obvious choice they were looking for and they called us immediately. We had a representative out to the home shortly after to give a free estimate. The couple decided on what they wanted done and we got to work!
We began by laying down a Drainage Matting around the wall/floor joint of the crawlspace. This holds back moisture and allows it to drain out through the floor of the crawlspace. This will help reduce the amount of water build-up in the crawlspace. Next, we covered the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This is a plastic sheet which will hold back any and all moisture trying to enter the crawlspace. Now this couple has a proper vapor barrier to keep their crawlspace dry!
A homeowner in Bridgton was looking to have their basement finished, but with water leaking into it during rain, this wasn’t going to happen. Before they could move forward with finishing their basement, they needed to waterproof their basement. They soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a satisfied previous customer and they contacted us right away. We had a representative give the homeowner a free estimate and got to work on the basement! We dug out a hole in the basement floor to create a sump. This is where the water will naturally gather. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take the gathered water and force it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. Now this homeowner can finally finish their basement now that it has been waterproofed.
Pam from Casco was having trouble with her old vapor barrier in her crawlspace. Water was pooling up in the crawlspace during rain, meaning that somehow, her vapor barrier was letting water through. Looking to have this addressed, Pam called TC Hafford Basement Systems after she saw us on the news. We had a representative inspect the crawlspace and give her a free estimate on the cost of a new vapor barrier. She gave us the go ahead and we got to work!
We began by lining the wall/floor joint with a Drainage Matting. This would allow any moisture that manages to enter time to drain back through the way it came in. Without allowing it to pool up further towards the center of the crawlspace. We then encapsulated the entire crawlspace with a CleanSpae Liner, except for the ceiling. This plastic sheet of CleanSpace will hold back any moisture from the outside. Not allowing water to gather within the crawlspace itself. Finally, to keep the air quality dry, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. This will take in the moist air from around the crawlspace, and dry it out. Maintaining a dry, healthy atmosphere within the crawlspace.
Now Pam has a dry crawlspace and a fully functioning vapor barrier. Water should no longer be an issue for this Casco crawlspace!
A couple in South Freeport were experiencing problems with their crawlspace. Water was finding its way inside during rain, and causing moisture to build up in the air and on the floor. This was a perfect habitat for mold to grow, and the homeowner wanted to change this before they developed a serious mold problem. They soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call. We had a representative inspect the crawlspace and then we got to work!
We needed to stop the water from entering the crawlspace. To do this, we encapsulated the walls and floor with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner will seal off the crawlspace from exterior moisture, not allowing any to pass through into the interior of the crawlspace. We then installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This machine will cycle through the air in the crawlspace, drying out any moisture gathering in the air. This dry air completely removes the environment in which mold grows, killing off any mold starting to grow in the crawlspace. Now this couple is worry free, with a mold-free crawlspace that will remain dry no matter how hard it rains!
A homeowner in Windham had a basement that would flood during heavy rains. The homeowner was unsure how the water was getting in, but they needed something done to stop it. After receiving a piece of mail from TC Hafford Basement Systems, the homeowner knew we would be the perfect company for the job. They called us shortly after to set up a meeting to get their free estimate. After that, the homeowner gave us the go ahead and we got to work!
To begin with the waterproofing of the basement, we needed to excavate the inside perimeter of the floor. We dug out a trench, and removed all of the debris from the basement. This allowed us to lay down our WaterGuard piping system. The WaterGuard is then covered over with loose rocks and cement to conceal it within the floor without hindering functionality. The specially designed pipes will capture water as it attempts to enter the basement through the walls or floor. The water is then guided out through a discharge line. This homeowner now no longer needs to worry about water flooding their basement, thanks to WaterGuard.
Nancy from Portland had started to notice a musty smell emitting from her basement. This was being caused by very moist air. The smell could also be an indication of mold growth in the basement. Seeking professional assistance with this moisture problem, Nancy contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems. We had a representative at the home shortly after to give the homeowner her free estimate. She selected what she wanted done, and our crew started working.
To remove the moisture from the basement air, and keep the air dry, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This dehumidifier takes in the moist air immediately surrounding itself, dries it out, and then pushes it out into the basement. The pressure created by this pulls in more moist air, allowing the process to continue until all of the air within the basement is dry and healthy. This will not only kill off any mold starting to grow, but it will prevent it from spreading, or re-growing in the future. Now Nancy has clean, dry air in her basement, and no need to worry about a musty smell, or mold growth!
A couple in Brunswick was experiencing issues with water coming in through the walls of their basement. They had no way of efficiently removing this water from their basement, and were seeking professional help. They soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a previously satisfied customer, and called us right away! We had a representative inspect the basement, giving them their free estimate, and then we got to work on the basement!
We began by digging a trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This allowed us to lay down our WaterGuard system, which was then covered over with loose rocks and cement. This hides the WaterGuard without hindering functionality. This special pipe system captures the water as it enters the basement, carrying it to the sump we dug in the basement. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump, which will take the collected water from the WaterGuard and push it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. Finally, we attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump. This will keep the SuperSump powered, even if the power in the home is out, due to inclement weather, or any other reason. Now this couple has a dry basement, which will keep itself dry in any weather!
A homeowner in Scarborough had a sump pump in their basement, but water was somehow still collecting in pools on the floor. The pump wasn’t doing what it was put there to do. Needing a way to remedy this issue, the homeowner searched online for a solution. This is where they found TC Hafford Basement Systems. They gave us a call and we had a representative head to the home to take a look at the sump, and give the homeowner a free estimate. They decided on what options they wanted, and we got to work!
To begin, we needed to remove the old pump. It could be thrown out, as it was no longer serving any purpose. After throwing away the pump, we were able to install our TripleSafe sump pump into the old sump. The TripleSafe is unique in that is consists of three separate pumps, to keep the basement dry under any condition. The first pump is the primary pump, which handle the bulk of the water. The secondary pump is there in case the primary malfunctions in any way, to prevent the sump from overflowing. Finally, the third pump is a battery-operated pump. It’s in place for when the power goes out in the home, and water still needs to be evacuated from the basement. This sump pump will guarantee a dry basement for this homeowner, under any conditions!
A homeowner in Westbrook began noticing a musty smell emanating from their crawlspace. This smell was due to moist conditions, and was likely be a formation of mold inside the crawlspace. The smell might have been the least of the homeowner’s concerns if it was indeed mold growing in their crawlspace. The mold can release spores into the air, which if inhaled by the homeowner, could lead to health concerns. Needing a way to deal with their moisture issue, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems after seeing us on their TV. We had a representative at the home in no time to give the homeowner their free estimate. Luckily, there was very little mold in the crawlspace, and drastic measures weren’t required. We got the go ahead from the homeowner and began work!
With the little amount of mold present in the crawlspace, we needed to stop the moisture if we wanted to prevent the mold from spreading. To do this, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner holds back moisture trying to enter the interior of the crawlspace through the walls or floor. Keeping the moisture out this way will keep the air and surfaces within the crawlspace dry. Without moisture in the air, the mold is unable to survive. Needing certain conditions to live in, the mold will eventually die off, and not grow back. Now this homeowner has no mold problem, and a dry crawlspace, thanks to CleanSpace!
A couple in Gorham was looking experiencing moisture gathering in their crawlspace. They needed a proper vapor barrier to help keep out this water. Looking for the right company for the job, they came across TC Hafford Basement Systems one day while watching television. They called us soon after to set up a meeting with one of our representatives. We gave them their free estimate, and they chose to go ahead and have us install a proper vapor barrier for them. We sent in our crew and got to work!
We began installing the vapor barrier by laying down a Drainage Matting. This mat lays against the wall/floor joint around the inside perimeter of the crawlspace. This is where most of the water coming in will coalesce and the mat allows this water time to drain, without it reaching the interior of the crawlspace. Next, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This is a thin plastic sheet that covers everything except for the ceiling of the crawlspace. This will lock out any moisture trying too finds its way into the interior of the crawlspace. Whether it’s trying to pool up on the floor or make its way into the air, no water is going to be entering the crawlspace from the outside anymore. Now this couple has a proper vapor barrier, thanks to CleanSpace.
A homeowner in Falmouth was having trouble with their sump pump. It was allowing water to gather within the basement. The water would enter the sump normally, but then the sump would back-up and allow the water to overflow, back out into the basement. This was an issue they needed professional help with, so after consulting the Yellow Pages, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems. We got them their free estimate, and then we got to work!
We began by removing the old pump from the basement. It could be thrown away, as it served no further purpose. We then installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device contains three separate pumps. The first, primary pump is for the majority of the water. The secondary pump is there in case the primary fails for any reason and stops working. Finally, the third pump is a battery backup and will operate when the power in the home is out. Now this new pump will keep the homeowner’s basement dry is all weather conditions.
Dave from Standish was having trouble with his sump pump within his basement. It was malfunctioning and water was pooling up on his basement floor. Seeking professional help, Dave searched online for a solution. His search soon lead him to TC Hafford Basement Systems, who after a little research, he knew was the right company for the job. Dave gave us a call, and we had a representative head to the property to give him a free estimate. He selected what work he wanted done and we got to work!
We began by removing the old sump pump. It was faulty and would no longer serve a purpose in the basement. We then installed our TripleSafe sump pump into the sump. The TripleSafe is composed of three separate pumps. The primary pump handles the bulk of the water. The secondary pump will turn on in the event of the primary pump failing. The third pump is a battery-backup pump which operates when the power in the home cannot keep the primary or secondary running. The pump uses a PVC discharge line to evacuate the water. Which, on the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to. The IceGuard is designed to allow water to exit the pipe should the lower end become blocked by any kind of debris.
The combination of TripleSafe sump pump and IceGuard filter is sure to keep this basement dry. Dave should have no more worries about a malfunctioning sump pump in the future!
A homeowner in Cape Elizabeth was in the market for basement waterproofing. They’d been dealing with water flooding their basement for too long, and needed something done about it. Looking for a professional consultation, the homeowner soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a family friend. They were in contact with us right away, and we had a representative inspect the basement to give the homeowner a free estimate. They then gave us the green light and we began work!
Our crew started by excavating the interior perimeter of the basement floor. This created a trench for us to emplace our WaterGuard pipe system, which was then covered over with loose rocks and cement. This hides the WaterGuard within the floor, while still allowing for it to function properly. This pipe system will catch water as it tries to leak into the basement, guiding it to the sump within the basement. In the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take the water gathered within it and push it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line.
These two products working in tandem will maintain a dry basement floor. This homeowner now no longer needs to worry about heavy rains flooding his basement!
Sharon from Yarmouth was looking for ways to seal off her basement from moisture. Water would easily enter her basement during rain due to something known as hydrostatic pressure. This is when the water in the surrounding soil is forced into the basement through the concrete. Sharon soon received a letter in the mail advertising TC Hafford Basement Systems. We were just the company she was looking for! She called us right away and set up a meeting with one of our representatives to receive her free estimate. After making her selection of products, our crew got to work.
We began by digging up the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This new trench allowed us to lay our WaterGuard pipe system down. It was then covered over with loose rocks and cement to conceal it within the floor without preventing functionality. The WaterGuard system will capture water as it enters the basement through the walls or floor. The water is then guided to the sump in the basement. In the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This sump will push the water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. With these systems in place, water is no longer a concern for Sharon.
A homeowner in Freeport was in the market for a vapor barrier for their crawlspace. They had never had one properly installed, and with a dirt crawlspace, would routinely have water flood the space. Soon after they started their search for a vapor barrier, the homeowner received a letter advertising TC Hafford Basement Systems. They researched our company, and gave us the call. We had a representative investigate the crawlspace, and then we got to work!
We began by installing a SmartSump in the floor of the crawlspace, where the most water collected. This sump will evacuate the water gathering in this point of the crawlspace through a PVC discharge line. We then lined the inside perimeter of the wall/floor joint with a Drainage Matting. This mat will reduce the amount of water entering the interior of the crawlspace. Finally, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace liner. This liner covers all of the surfaces that water normally enters through. Being made of plastic, water will never pierce the CleanSpace. Maintaining a dry crawlspace atmosphere for many years to come. This finished the homeowners new vapor barrier. Keeping their originally dirt crawlspace dry by keeping the water out!
A homeowner in Cumberland Center was experiencing trouble with puddles of water gathering on the basement floor. They sought a way to end this gathering of water, soon coming across TC Hafford Basement Systems. Looking to have their basement professionally protected, the homeowner called us to receive their free estimate. They chose what work they wanted done, and we sent in our crew to start working on the basement!
We began by digging out the interior perimeter of their basement floor. This created a trench for us to lay down our unique WaterGuard system. This will capture any water entering through the walls or floor of the basement. The WaterGuard is covered over with loose rocks and cement to hide it without hindering functionality. The WaterGuard then guides the gathered water to the sump, where we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device is composed of three pumps, a primary and secondary pump for the bulk of the water, and a third, battery backup pump for when the power goes out. The water is evacuated from the pump through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached a specially designed piece of pipe to this line, known as an IceGuard. The IceGuard will allow water to flow even if the lower end of the pipe is blocked by ice or other debris.
These three products working together will be sure to maintain a dry basement for this homeowner. A wet basement should no longer be a concern for them!
Tom from Raymond was in the market for a vapor barrier for his crawlspace. He had been experiencing flooding in the space, and needed it to stop before any permanent damage happened. He selected the solution he wanted and we sent in our crew.
In order to form a proper vapor barrier in the crawlspace, we needed to line the walls with sheets that wouldn’t allow for the passage of water. We began by laying a Drainage Matting around the perimeter of the crawlspace, at the wall/floor joint. This will hold back a good amount of water, giving it time to drain back into the soil before reaching the center of the space. We then encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This is a plastic sheet that will lock out any moisture attempting to find its way into the crawlspace. These two layers working together will keep out moisture and maintain a dry crawlspace for Tom.
A homeowner in Naples was having trouble with water leaking into their basement and crawlspace. They had a sump pump, but it wasn’t able to pump out the water that was on the opposite side of the basement or in the crawlspace. Seeking a solution, the homeowner got online. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems, and gave us a call. We dispatched a representative to inspect the home and give a free estimate. Then our crew went in to get to work!
We began by digging up the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This allowed us room to lay our WaterGuard system. These are uniquely designed pipes that will capture water as it enters through the walls or floor, guiding it to the sump. The system is then covered over with rocks and cement to conceal it beneath the floor without hindering functionality. We then installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier in the basement. This will take in the moist air, dry it out, and disperse it back out into the basement. This cycles through the air until all of the moisture has been removed, creating a dry atmosphere. Finally, within the crawlspace, we needed to install a proper vapor barrier. We encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner is made of a thin plastic that completely locks out moisture trying to enter through the surrounding soil.
With these systems in place, the homeowner now has a dry, healthy basement to use however he sees fit. He will no longer need to fear any form of water damage.
A homeowner in Whitefield with a flooding basement was looking for a way to protect their basement from potential water damage. With a basement that would regularly flood during heavy rains, this was a high priority for the homeowner, and they called TC Hafford Basement Systems right away. We had our representative dispatched to give the homeowner their free estimate, and then we got to work!
We began by excavating the inside perimeter of the basement floor, creating a space to install our WaterGuard pipe system. This system will capture water as it tries to enter the basement through the walls, guiding the water to the sump within the basement. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump in the sump, to enable system to remove the water from the basement through a PVC discharge line. Finally, on the outside of the home, we attached an IceGuard filter to the discharge line to allow water to continue to be pumped out of the basement; Even when the line is blocked by debris.
With these products in place, this homeowner will no longer have any issues with water flooding their basement!
A homeowner in Steep Falls was having trouble with water leaking into her basement through the walls and floor. Fearing water damage, the homeowner searched for a way to prevent more water from entering her basement. She soon called TC Hafford Basement Systems to arrange a meeting with one of our representative and receive their free estimate. The homeowner gave us the green light and we got to work!
To begin our work, we dug a trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor and removed the debris. This new trench allowed us to lay down our WaterGuard pipe system encircling the basement. This system will catch all the water trying to enter the basement through the walls and floor and guide it to the sump. The WaterGuard was then buried under loose rocks and cement to hide it without hindering its capabilities. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump in the basement, which would pump the collected water up and out through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard filter to the discharge line. This special pipe will allow water to exit the line should the lower end of the pipe become blocked by ice or other debris. Finally, we emplaced a SaniDry XP dehumidifier in the basement. This will take in the moist air, and output dry, healthy air.
With these systems working together, water damage will no longer be a concern for this homeowner!
A homeowner living in Harrison, ME was having trouble with the sump in their basement. The water that was leaking into the basement would occasionally gather in puddles instead of exiting through the sump. This dampness was a problem the homeowner wanted to deal with right away. After seeing an ad for TC Hafford Basement Systems on their TV, they called us to receive their free estimate. When they decided on what work they wanted done, they gave us the go-ahead to begin work!
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on using WaterGuard piping to keep this basement dry. To achieve this, a shallow trench was excavated into the perimeter of the basement floor for the WaterGuard to be laid in. The WaterGuard will surround the basement beneath the surface of the floor, feeding directly into the existing sump. After being buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, the WaterGuard will now take in any leaking moisture through small slits along the bottom edge of each pipe. This will handle any water problems before they ever reach the surface of the basement floor.
Now that the WaterGuard has been installed in this basement floor, a flooding basement is now a thing of the past for this home. The homeowner will no longer need to manually sweep water to sump to be removed from the basement.
A homeowner living in Steep Falls, ME was looking for a way to have a few things done for their home. They wanted to better waterproof the crawlspace beneath their home and also better insulate the space. Not long after they began looking, they were referred to call us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to get a free estimate on the cost of the job. When they got their estimate, they liked what we had to offer and hired us to get the job done for them!
When our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on better insulating the space first. To achieve this, Spray Foam was used along the upper edges of the crawlspace as well as along each joist supporting the home. This foam increases in size once sprayed and fills the cracks and gaps that might decrease a homes insulation efficiency. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the interior of the crawlspace. This liner covers all of the walls as well as the floor of the space, locking out any outside moisture.
Now that this homeowner has a proper vapor barrier below their home, they can rest assured they're safe from a moisture problem developing in the future. The Spray Foam insulation will also help the homeowner in the long-run by keeping the price of heating or cooling their home down.
This homeowner, living in Pownal, ME, had a problem beneath their home. One of the walls of their basement had begun to bow inward. This was worrysome as it could lead to a cave-in, if it is left alone. The homeowner was soon referred to TC Hafford Basement Systems and called to ask about repairs. We gave the homeowner a free estimate on what could be done to solve their problem and they hired us right away to get the job done!
When our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the forcing the wall back to its original position. This required the use of a PowerBrace system. The PowerBrace is installed by placing several steel I-beams along the face of the bowing basement wall. The base of the PowerBraces are screwed into the foundation of the basement, locked in place against the lower side of the wall. The top of each beam is then secured into the joists in the ceiling of the basement, within an apparatus that allows the top of the beams to be tightened against the wall. These are then tightened over time until the wall is back in the original position, where the beams will keep it locked for the future!
Now that the PowerBrack system has been implemented in this homeowners basement, they can rest assured their basement won't suffer any major damage from a potential cave-in.
A homeowner that lived in West Baldwin, ME had a problem building up beneath their home. The concrete foundation below the home had been leaking water onto the basement floor, which was causing flooding in the space. Looking to have this problem dealt with as soon as possible, the homeowner searched for a solution online and soon discovered us at TC Hafford. After they called our office in Wells, we set them up with a free estimate to inform them of their options. They hired us right away to get the job done and solve their wet basement problems!
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, their first task was to install WaterGuard piping below the surface of the floor. These pipes were buried in shallow trenches that were excavated into the perimeter of the concrete floor. Covered by loose rocks and concrete, the pipes will remain concealed within the floor while taking in any leaking moisture through small slits along their bottom edges. The water collected in the WaterGuard is guided through the floor to the sump feeding directly into the SuperSump pump we installed. The SuperSump removes water from the basement at a rate of 2,650 gallons of water per hour. This water exits the home through a PVC discharge line where it is carried a distance from the home before being deposited onto the ground to flow away from the home.
With their newly waterproofed basement, this homeowner can now make use of the space again without needing to fear water damage destroying their property! The WaterGuard & SuperSump will ensure this basement floor remains dry in the future.
When a flooding basement began to be a problem for this homeowner, they were unsure how to resolve the problem at first. After a quick search online, they discovered TC Hafford could help them in their Peaks Island, ME home. Soon after they called our office, our sales representative was able to schedule a time to give them a free estimate of their options. They agreed to the work and we got started on the waterproofing.
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started by pouring a fresh slab of concrete over the dirt floor of the basement that had been flooding. A slab alone won’t fully protect this home, however. To keep water from entering through the new slab, a WaterGuard piping system had been buried in the outer perimeter of the slab as it was installed. The WaterGuard pipes have slits along their lower-outer edges, allowing for the collection of moisture leaking through the slab. The water then flows through the WaterGuard to the sump where it will be removed from the home.
Within the sump in the new slab, a TripleSafe sump system was installed. This device houses three pumps, as the name suggests. The primary pump functions most of the time, handling the bulk of the water needing removal. The secondary pump will activate if the primary pump either fails for any reason or requires additional pumping force. The third pump is a battery-operated backup pump, able to continue the water-removal while the home is without power. The water passing through the TripleSafe all flows out of the home through a PVC discharge line.
Outside the home, two pieces of additional piping were attached to further protect the basement from flooding. The first being an IceGuard pipe segment attached to the line just after it exits the home. Here, upward angled holes keep the basement safe from blockages caused by ice, by releasing the backing up water through said holes. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was attached to the end of the line, covering it with a grate. This will prevent debris from forming blockages within the line.
Now that this homeowner has a new basement floor as well as proper waterproofing, they can now make use of the previously damp and musty space. The WaterGuard piping will ensure the surface of this new slab will remain dry for years into the future!
After living with a damp basement for so long, this homeowner thought it was time they had something done about it. After speaking to some contractors, they were referred to TC Hafford Basement Systems to take care of the dampness problem below their Orrs Island, ME home. After talking with our office staff over the phone, they were set up with a meeting with one of our sales reps. for a free estimate. They agreed to have the work done and we dispatched our crew.
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started with this waterproofing job by installing a SuperSump in the floor of this basement. Nearby, an UltraSump backup battery was installed and connected to the SuperSump. The SuperSump will act to pump and water from this basement up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line at a rate of 2,650 gallons of water every hour. To help keep the sump operational even in the harshest storms, the nearby UltraSump will activate during power-outages. The UltraSump will enable the SuperSump to function for around 11,000 gallons of water-removal.
Outside the home, our crew made some final additions to the discharge line to enhance the effectiveness of the system. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe section intersected into the pipes just beyond where they exit the home. The IceGuard has special holes built in that only allow for water trapped in the line to escape, without hindering normal water flow. This will protect the sump from backing up water if ice blocks the line. Lastly, a LawnScape discharge port was attached to the end of the line. Here, the water exits onto the ground through the grate on the LawnScape. This grate will prevent debris from entering the line to cause blockages.
Now that they have an effective waterproofing solution beneath their home, this homeowner will no longer need to live with a damp or flooding basement. The SuperSump & UltraSump combination will ensure this basement stays dry!
Living with a damp basement, this Bailey Island, ME homeowner was looking for a solution to their problem. While searching online, they soon discovered us at TC Hafford Basement Systems and thought we would be the perfect company for the job. They called us and we set them up with a free estimate from one of our sales reps. The homeowner hired us right away once they heard what we could offer them. We then dispatched our crew and got started!
As soon as the installation crew arrived at the homeowner’s property, they began work on the damp basement by installing a SaniDry CX dehumidifier on the floor of the space. This device will pull in the damp air within the space, separating any moisture from it. The dried air is then circulated back into the basement while the collected water is removed. The circulation of the dried air will push more of the damp air back toward the SaniDry, continuing this process until the basement is free of moisture in the air. To remove this water, a SmartSump pump was installed in the floor of the basement. The SmartSump will take the water and force it out of the home through a PVC discharge line.
Following the discharge line outside, two additions were made to these pipes to further protect the home from moisture. First, an IceGuard section of piping was connected to the line just beyond where it leaves the home. The IceGuard has upward facing holes built-in, to protect the basement from blockages. These allow for trapped water to escape the line without backing up into the home. Next, a LawnScape discharge port was connected to the end of the line. This piece has a grate covering the exit of the line, allowing the water to exit onto the lawn without letting in debris that would overwise clog the discharge line.
Now that this homeowner has a system in place to remove moisture from their basement, they can be sure no moisture problems will take root below their home. The SaniDry and SmartSump installations will ensure this home remains dry for years to come!
A homeowner that lived in Long Island, ME had recently began to have trouble with water collecting on their concrete basement floor. The water seemed to be leaking in through the foundation below the home, leaving the homeowner unsure how to put an end to the problem. After a search online, they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to see if we could help solve their problem. We set them up with a free estimate and went over their options with them. They soon gave us the green light to begin work on waterproofing their flooding basement.
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on the floor of the basement by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. This allowed for WaterGuard piping to be laid down within the floor, surrounding the space. The pipes each have slits along their bottom edges. Buried beneath a layer of loose rocks and concrete, the WaterGuard within the floor will capture any leaking moisture in the future and guide it through the floor to the sump.
To handle the removal of the water from the basement, our crew installed a SuperSump pump in the basement floor with the WaterGuard pipes feeding directly into it. The SuperSump can remove water from the home at a rate of 2,650 gallons of water every hour, plenty of power to keep any rainwater at bay. Nearby, an UltraSump backup battery was installed and connected to the SuperSump. This battery will enable the SuperSump to continue to force water out of the home even if a storm knocks out the power in the home. This device will then charge after power is returned. The water leaves the home through a PVC discharge line.
Outside, two additions were made to this discharge line to better protect this home from potential water problems. The first was an IceGuard pipe segment placed just beyond where the line exits the side of the home. This pipe has upward facing holes that will stop water trapped in the line by ice or debris from reaching back into the interior of the basement. Lastly, the end of the line was capped with a LawnScape discharge port. This piece has a grate over the end, allowing the water leaving the home to flow freely while holding back debris that might otherwise clog the line.
Now that this homeowner has properly installed basement waterproofing, they can use their basement without the need to fear possible water damage. The WaterGuard & SuperSump system will ensure this basement floor remains dry for years to come!
Having been living with a damp basement for some time, this Harrison, ME homeowner though it was time they had something done to dry their basement. A crack along one of the concrete walls was the problem causing the dampness below this home. Wanting the job done right the first time, the homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems as soon as they saw us on their TV. Once they sat down with one of our sales representatives, the homeowner decided they wanted us to solve their wet basement problem!
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started clearing the crack of small debris using a coarse brush. To begin sealing this crack, a layer of sealant was applied within and around the length of the crack. Next, a foam core was laid along the crack, covered by a second layer of sealant. This forms a FlexiSpan seal over the crack. As the name suggests, the FlexiSpan is able to conform to small changes in the shape of the crack over time to prevent future leakages. The completed seal will keep out the moisture that had been so easily leaking into the basement in the past.
With their new seal in place, the crack in this homeowner’s basement will no longer be a problem. The FlexiSpan will keep this crack from leaking for many years into the future!
When this Steep Falls, ME homeowner began to notice water leaking in through a crack along one of their basement walls, the moisture had already begun to have negative effects on the space. With the basement showing signs of early mold development, the homeowner needed a solution, fast! When they heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a coworker, they called us right away to set up their free estimate. They soon spoke with our sales representative and decided on what work they wanted done to protect their basement.
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started solving the problem of the crack in one of the concrete walls of the basement. Utilizing a FlexiSpan seal to keep water from entering through this wall, our crew quickly applied the three-part seal along the length of the crack. The FlexiSpan structure has a foam core between two layers of sealant. This foam core allows the seal to bend and contort to stay in place over the crack, should it ever shift slightly in shape in the future.
Next, to eliminate the developing mold problem entirely, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed on the basement floor. This device will pull in the surrounding damp air and separate the moisture from it. The dried air is then circulated back into the basement where it will cycle more damp air back to the SaniDry, continuing the process. Once the atmosphere within this basement is free of moisture, any mold attempting to grow will no longer be able to sustain itself. Finally, the moisture collected through the SaniDry is pumped from the home through a PVC discharge line.
With their leakage problem sealed and the mold growth eliminated, this homeowner no longer needs to worry about their basement during rainy weather. The SaniDry Sedona will ensure the space remains moisture-free for years to come!
Having lived with a wet basement for some time, this Pownal, ME homeowner thought it was time they did something about the problem! Having to mop up any gathering water after rainfall, the homeowner was looking for a way to automate the process. They took to the internet to find a solution and soon discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems. The homeowner called us right away to set up their free estimate and our sales representative was dispatched to take a look at the basement. After hearing their options, the homeowner made their selection and we were able to get started on waterproofing this basement!
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on installing a WaterGuard piping system right away. This system rests just below the surface of the concrete floor, around the outer most edge of the basement. Buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, the WaterGuard will now capture the leaking moisture and guide it directly to the SuperSump pump that we installed in the floor where it will be removed from the home through a PVC discharge line. Next, an UltraSump backup battery was installed and connected to the SuperSump to keep it operational even during power-outages in the home. Now during any rainy weather, any leakage will flow from the WaterGuard to the SuperSump and be pumped from the home through a PVC discharge line.
Following this line outside, two additional pieces were attached to better waterproof the basement. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe segment attached just beyond where the line leaves the home. This piece has special upward facing holes built-in that allow for only trapped water to escape. Now if ice or debris were to clog the line, the water would escape before flooding back into the basement. Finally, the water will exit the end of the line through the grate of a LawnScape discharge port. This grate will hold back debris that would otherwise easily block up the discharge line while allowing the water to easily flow out onto the ground to drain away harmlessly.
Now that this homeowner has a fully functional waterproofing system in place, they can be at ease during any rainfall knowing they won’t need to manually remove the water. The WaterGuard & SuperSump will operate in tandem to keep this basement completely water-free!

They soon spoke with our sales representative and agreed on the solution we suggested. We then dispatched our crew to begin work on the space.
Once our crew arrived at the home, they got started on eliminating the moisture in this basement’s atmosphere right away. A SaniDry XP dehumidifier was installed on the floor of the basement to do just this. The SaniDry will take in the damp air surrounding it, separating any moisture from this collected air. The moisture is then passed to a Condensate Pump installed nearby. The pump will force the water out of the home while the SaniDry circulates the dried air back into the basement. This process will continue until the basement air is healthy and dry again.
With this new system installed, the homeowner can now comfortably make use of their basement without unpleasant musty air. The SaniDry XP will quickly eliminate this basements moisture problem!

Once this dirt was out of the way, our crew began using Spray Foam between the rim joists above the crawlspace. Once applied, this foam will expand rapidly to fill in the space between the joists. Solidifying after this expansion, the foam will form an insulating barrier between the home and the temperatures that once entered through the crawlspace.
Now that their crawlspace has been given a proper layer of insulation, this homeowner won’t need to worry about losing efficiency when heating their home next winter.

The TripleSafe Sump Pump is designed to efficiently remove water from your basement, even in the most demanding situations. It combines three powerful pumps, each with its own unique functionality, to provide unparalleled performance and ensure your basement stays dry, regardless of the circumstances.
The first pump, a Zoeller M53, is a high-capacity pump that kicks into action as soon as water enters the sump pit. It swiftly removes the water, preventing any immediate flooding and effectively managing normal water seepage. With its robust motor and efficient design, the primary pump is the backbone of the TripleSafe system.
The second pump, a Zoeller M98, acts as a backup to the primary pump. In the event of a power outage or pump failure, the secondary pump seamlessly takes over, keeping your basement protected even when the primary pump is unable to operate. This added layer of security ensures uninterrupted water removal and peace of mind during unforeseen circumstances.
The third pump, known as the UltraSump battery backup pump, provides an extra layer of defense against basement flooding. Powered by a maintenance-free battery, this pump operates independently of the primary and secondary pumps. It activates automatically during power outages or if the primary and secondary pumps are overwhelmed, ensuring continuous water removal and safeguarding your basement.
Additionally, the TripleSafe Sump Pump incorporates advanced monitoring and alert systems. An alarm system alerts you to any potential issues or malfunctions, allowing for timely maintenance and intervention. The innovative WaterWatch alarm system notifies you if the water level in the sump pit rises above normal, providing an early warning sign of potential flooding.

A homeowner in Portland, Maine, reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems looking for a more reliable solution for their gutter system. After dealing with issues like clogs and overflowing water that threatened the foundation of their home, they decided it was time for an upgrade. We visited the property and determined that the best course of action would be to install the Gutter Shutter system along with a RainChute to manage the water flow more effectively.
The Gutter Shutter system provides a clog-free design, eliminating the need for frequent gutter cleaning. It directs water away from the home, even during heavy rains, ensuring that the foundation and surrounding landscape are protected. The RainChute further helped to move the water safely away from the home’s foundation, preventing potential issues with erosion and/or pooling. This installation offered the homeowner peace of mind and a lasting improvement to their home’s exterior, safeguarding it from water damage for years to come.
Looking to replace their damaged gutters and save themselves from climbing a ladder to clear out debris, this New Gloucester, ME, homeowner reached out to Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. For this Peaks Island, ME homeowner, their crawl space was an active nightmare. Their crawl space was home to musty odors, mold growth, and rodents, and the floors above were freezing during the winter. Tired of their crawl space troubles, the homeowner decided to take action and call TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. A System Design Specialist met with the homeowner for a free estimate and worked with them to design an encapsulation specifically for their crawl space.
This crawl space needed to be sealed and insulated to keep critters and cold air outside, where they belong. CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was first installed to create an inorganic barrier between the crawl space and the ground. Drainage Matting has large dimples to create a gap, which allows groundwater to be channeled without penetrating the CleanSpace. Even though water is currently not an issue for the homeowner, they opted to have a Sump Liner installed. That way, if water becomes an issue in the future, a sump pump can be easily installed without the need to modify their encapsulation system. Spray Foam was applied to the crawl space walls to insulate the area and sprayed on the rim joist to lock in the CleanSpace and provide further insulation.
The homeowner's crawl space is fully encapsulated, and now that it is insulated, their floors won’t be cold in the winter, and any critter that called their crawl space home will no longer be a problem.
Growing tired of having to climb a ladder more and more or asking a friend to clean their clogged gutters, this South Portland, ME, homeowner was ready for a change. The homeowner called Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Josh Hamel met with the homeowner, and together they designed a Gutter Shutter system that would keep them off the ladder of their 1950’s home.
Gutter Shutter features a seamless design with a gutter guard for added protection, keeping the system clog-free and working all the time. Gutter guards prevent blockages created by a build-up of leaves, twigs, and any other debris that could fall on the homeowner’s roof. Keeping organic material out of the gutter also prevents a number of issues, such as mildew growth, rotting fascia, roof damage, and basement flooding. Gutter Shutter is formed and cut on location to the specific needs of the home. Since the gutters are cut on location, the gutters can be as long or short as necessary without the need to seam two gutters together, creating a unified product that is less susceptible to issues.
The homeowner no longer needs to climb a ladder and is protected with Gutter Shutter installed on their home.
Over the past year, this Falmouth, ME homeowner has been dealing with water in their basement and, wanting to use the space, decided it was time to tackle the issue. Wanting to make sure their basement stayed dry, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Lou DiStasio worked with the homeowner to design a system that would channel water, keeping the basement dry and the homeowners’ belongings safe.
The homeowner wanted to keep their whole basement dry year-round, so WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of their basement. The WaterGuard channels the water to a connected TripleSafe Sump Pump that is connected to a Buried Exterior Discharge Line. In high-traffic areas such as doorways, TrenchLock is installed in place of WaterGuard to ensure all water is being collected. To finish off the system and keep the homeowners’ belongings safe, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed. Unlike most dehumidifiers, the SaniDry Sedona is connected to the TripleSafe Sump Pump, so the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket of water, keeping their basement at an ideal humidity level.
The homeowner is able to spend Christmas now focusing on festivities and less on their basement, as it is now waterproofed and their belongings safe.
This Harpswell, ME, homeowner recently purchased a new home and immediately had issues with water coming into their basement and crawl space area. Uncertain of how it comes in but appearing often, the homeowner wants to address the issue before it becomes a bigger problem or affects the health of their home. Looking for help, the homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems to schedule a free estimate. System Design Specialist Michael Madore met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a waterproofing system specific to their unique situation.
To address the crawl space portion of the area, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down to create an inorganic barrier between the crawl space and the outside elements. CleanSpace not only brightens the area but also aids in keeping critters and moisture out. Drainage Matting creates a barrier gap and allows water to be channeled to the new SuperSump Sump Pump. The SuperSump will push all water out of the area, and because of the CleanSpace and Drainage Matting’s tough design, the crawl space is the perfect storage area for the homeowner.
The basement portion of the space needed to be addressed, and so WaterGuard Perimeter Drain was installed where needed and connected to another SuperSump Sump Pump. The WaterGuard captures and channels water to the SuperSump, which takes the water and pumps it out of the space through a Buried Discharge Line. The Discharge Line takes the water away from the home. The homeowner can now live in their home knowing that their basement and crawl space will no longer be an area of trouble.
After growing tired of their unsightly gutters, this Portland, ME, homeowner was ready for a change, so they called Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. Gutter Shutter comes in many different colors, allowing homeowners to match the gutter to their home. Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems not only removes the old gutters but also disposes of them to save the homeowner the headache of having to do so. Now, with the larger six-inch Gutter Shutter system installed, the home is protected from the troubles that rainwater falling off a roof can cause, such as soil erosion, basement leaks, and foundation damage.
Cold basement walls make your entire basement colder in the winter, leading to higher heating bills. During the summer, the colder walls create condensation, resulting in higher humidity and a greater chance for mold growth. Insulating your basement is as important as the walls of your home. With energy costs rising, it’s important to test your home to make sure you’re not throwing money down the drain.
This Scarborough, ME, homeowner called Dr. Energy Saver by TC Hafford Basement Systems to schedule a Blower Door Test and discovered they had room for improvement. System Design Specialist Nima Farshid worked with the homeowner to design a DR. Energy Saver system that would save them money on their energy bill and make their home more comfortable. Foamax Board was installed on the basement walls to insulate the area. Foamax has a white foil finish on the front to create a clean-looking and brighter basement. Foamax also features a foil vapor barrier on the back side that helps to control basement humidity. SprayFoam was installed along the rim joist to finish out the Dr Energy Saver System, and the homeowner is able to live more comfortably and save money on their energy bill now that their home will be more energy efficient.

Since 2012, this Portland, ME, homeowner has had a problem with their foundation shifting and moisture in the basement creating a musty smell. Worried about air quality and the health of their home, they booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. System Design Specialist Lou DiStasio met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a system that would save their home and create a safter basement.
The shifting foundation needed to be addressed first, and to take care of it, StableLock was installed to save the foundation. Over time, stone foundations break apart and shift, resulting in an unstable home and sinking floors that could ultimately result in the foundation totally failing. Typically, with a failing foundation, the home would need to be lifted for a period of time in order for the old foundation to be removed and a new one poured. With StableLock, not only do homeowners save money, but they don’t have to move out of their house, and SableLock can be completed in just a few days. StableLock fills the voids in the old wall and uses modern concrete forming and shoring methods to stabilize the old wall, leaving a new, smooth foundation wall. With StableLock installed and the foundation stabilized, the next step was to address the moisture issues of the basement. To maintain a safe level of humidity and prevent mold and musty smells, a SaniDry Sedona was installed with a Condensate Pump so the homeowner won’t have to ever empty a bucket of water. Not only does this keep the SaniDry Sedona running as needed, but the homeowner can travel without concern of their dehumidifier not working. Now the home is protected against moisture, and their foundation is no longer at risk of failing and is stronger than before.
This Yarmouth, ME, homeowner had an issue with water getting into their basement and causing issues with mold and mildew that led to a funky smell in the basement. Ready to tackle the issue and make the space comfortable to use again, the homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Ken Castillo met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a waterproofing system that was specific to their home and would address all of their issues at once.
WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement to capture groundwater and channel it to the brand new SuperSump Plus. The WaterGuard is installed under the slab and features Ports for easy maintenance. The SuperSump Plus is capable of taking the water that is channeled to it and pumping it out of the basement through a Buried Discharge Line that is protected from ice buildup with IceGuard. In high-traffic areas such as doorways and appliances, TrenchDrain was installed and connected to the WaterGuard to ensure all water is being channeled to the sump. BrightWall Panels were installed on the walls, which act as a vapor barrier and integrate into the WaterGuard to capture any water seepage from the walls. BrightWall covers the old wall, leaving a bright white finish that helps to reflect light and illuminate the basement more. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to keep humidity at a safe level and prevent mold and mildew from causing issues for the homeowner. Typically, homeowners have to empty a bucket of water to keep their dehumidifier working, but with the SaniDry Sedona, it drains directly to the SuperSump Plus, meaning the homeowner can travel without worrying about moisture in their basement. Now the basement is revitalized, and the homeowner is protected from moisture and water problems and can use their basement how it’s intended to be used.
It’s no secret that a home without gutters can lead to expensive issues. Without gutters, water can pool and rot a home’s fascia board, creating gaps and easy access for small rodents to make their way in and causing problems. Water coming off the roof will erode the soil around the home, ruining anything that is planted and potentially damaging the foundation, leading to water intrusion into the basement or crawl space. This Westbrook, ME, homeowner was aware of these issues and wanted to avoid the headache and expensive repair costs, so they booked a free estimate with Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Brian Donnelly met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a Gutter Shutter system, specific to their home.
Gutter Shutter's unique design is capable of catching water off the roof without catching debris such as leaves and pine needles, keeping the gutter clog-free and preventing the homeowner from ever having to climb a ladder. Gutter Shutter features a seamless, aluminum construction that is formed and cut on site to ensure a perfect fit every time, whether the gutter needs to be two feet or 100 feet long. The integrated shutter allows for water to easily flow into the gutter, but debris and critters are kept out. Gutter Shutter's tough design means that it can hold up against the tough Maine winters. Water is handled better than normal gutters, making it harder for icicles to form, keeping the homeowner safer. Gutter Shutter comes in many different colors, allowing the homeowner to have options to choose from so the gutter will blend seamlessly into their home. Now the homeowner is protected from the rain, and they can enjoy their home without having to be concerned about damage to their foundation or the rest of the home.

An External Buried Discharge line is installed and connected to the SuperSump Plus to drain the water from the basement out of the home and far away, where it will no longer be a problem.
