SmartJack Supports Keep Meddybemps, ME Basement Level
Challenge
A homeowner living in Meddybemps, ME had a problem developing beneath their home. The supports holding the home up were beginning to give way to the weight of the home. This became a major problem for the homeowner when a crack began to form on a wall within the home due to the bending. To remedy this problem before it got worse, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement right away. First, spaces were selected running beneath the joists above the basement, where gravel was used to create the basing for the SmartJack Footings. These are concrete supports used to hold the SmartJack pillars which were installed between the joists and the footings. These are then adjusted with built in mechanisms to realign the basement supports with their original locations. The SmartJack supports will now hold the floor up, while the old, failing supports can be removed from the basement.
With these SmartJack supports in place, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about their home bending down toward the basement in certain locations. The SmartJacks will keep this home level for many years to come!
