Geo-Lock Anchor Keeps Sebec, ME Basement Safe From Collapse
Challenge
A homeowner living in Sebec, ME had been living with a basement wall slowly bowing inward. This was subtle at first, but lately, the homeowner was beginning to worry about the potential for a collapse. Worried this may come to pass, the homeowner searched online for a solution. After coming across TC Hafford Basement Systems, they gave us a call and arranged to have the work done to save their basement.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived, they began work right away on stabilizing this basement wall. To not only keep the wall from collapsing, but also to pull the wall back into its original position, Geo-Lock wall anchors were used. This begins with metal rods being inserted into a horizontal line of holes drilled through the wall. Outside the home, the lawn was dug up to connect metal plates to the ends of these rods. These holes were promptly filled back in. Back inside the home the interior ends of the rods were attached to metal plates placed on the inside of the wall. The plates were then used to pull the wall back into place by being screwed further along the rods, this utilizes the outer plate to pull the wall back into place. Once realigned, the wall will be held in place for the foreseeable future by the new Geo-Lock installation.
Now that this homeowners’ basement wall has been repaired, they no longer have any worries about a potential collapse. The Geo-Lock will keep this basement in one piece for many years to come!
