Unstable Liberty, ME Home Leveled With Push Piers & SmartJack

Challenge

A homeowner in Liberty, ME had been noticing that their home was sinking down into the ground. This was not something that could go without professional consultation. After talking with TC Hafford Basement Systems, this homeowner hired us to stabilize the home.

Solution

Both the concrete foundation surrounding the basement and the supports within the crawlspace were beginning to give way. To remedy this, we needed to supply new supports to both sections of the house. For the basement, we dug down to the bottom of the foundation, outside the home. Here, we installed four Push Piers. These use steel rods pushing down into the ground, and a hydraulic system to help hold up the home.

Moving on to the crawlspace, this next product was installed directly within the space. We placed three SmartJack systems around the crawlspace. These jacks hold up the joists running along the ceiling of the crawlspace, pressing downward against the ground. The jacks are adjustable, and are used to lift the home, along with the Push Piers, back into place. These can be adjusted further in the future to maintain the homes original level.

With the new supports in place, this home is no longer at risk of sinking too far into the ground. Thanks to these adjustable systems in place, this home will never again fall too low.
