Vapor Barrier Installation Protects Waterville, ME Crawlspace from Moisture Damage
Challenge
A homeowner living in Waterville, ME had been having a problem with the crawlspace below their home. This space would regularly take on water from any rainfall. This dampness would linger in the space, causing the homeowner to worry about a potential mold problem taking root. To prevent any such damage from occurring, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the job!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived on the property, they began work on the crawlspace right away. In order to keep water from leaking into the interior of this space in the future, a vapor barrier needed to be put in place. This began with a Drainage Matting being laid across the floor of the crawlspace. This mat sits just above the floor to allow water caught beneath it to flow and find the best location for draining back into the ground. Over the top of this, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace. This covered all of the walls as well as the floor in a thin plastic sheet. The CleanSpace liner will completely lock out any moisture attempting to enter into the interior of this crawlspace in the future.
With their new vapor barrier installed, this homeowner no longer has to worry about their home developing a mold problem! The CleanSpace will keep this crawlspace moisture-free for many years to come!
