Proper Vapor Barrier Installation Keeps West Boothbay Harbor, ME Crawlspace Dry
Challenge
A homeowner from West Boothbay Harbor, ME was in need of some crawlspace waterproofing. The space beneath their home would always seem to take on water after any rainfall. This became a problem for the homeowner when space started to emanate a musty smell into the home. After a quick search online, the homeowner found their solution. They gave TC Hafford Basement Systems a call and we were on the case!
Solution
Once our installation got out to the home, they began work on the crawlspace by removing some debris that would have been in the way of the vapor barrier. After the debris was cleared, the first half of the vapor barrier was laid across the floor of the space; a Drainage Matting. This mat sits above the surface of the floor, which holds the water beneath itself while allowing that water to still flow and find the best spot to drain away into the ground. To complete the vapor barrier, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the space. This covered all of the walls as well as the floor with a thin plastic sheet. With the complete vapor barrier in place, the water that used to easily leak into this space will now be kept at bay.
The vapor barrier will soon eliminate the musty smell and keep any moisture problems from taking root in this crawlspace. This homeowner will now have a dry crawlspace for many years to come!
