Proper Vapor Barrier Installation Keeps Rangeley, ME Crawlspace Safe From Moisture
Challenge
A homeowner from Rangeley, ME was living with a wet crawlspace beneath their home. The water would enter during rainfall due to the crawlspace being unprotected from such leaks. This wasn’t a problem until a musty smell began to come from the space. This was a sign of mold growth and the homeowner needed the problem taken care of before it got worse. To get this job done, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the job!
Solution
As soon as our installation crew arrived on the property they began work. To protect the home from future leaks into the crawlspace, a vapor barrier needed to be put in place within the crawlspace. This began with a Drainage Matting being laid across the floor of the space. This mat holds moisture beneath it, keeping it from entering the air of the space. The trapped water will coalesce and flow out of the home through the ground after a short while. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the space. This thin plastic sheet covers each wall as well as the floor, sealing off the interior of the space from any possible leaks.
With their complete vapor barrier in place, this homeowner will soon notice the smell fade away and stay gone. The CleanSpace barrier along with the Drainage Matting will keep this crawlspace water-free for many years to come!
