Proper Vapor Barrier Protects Chebeague Island, ME Crawlspace
Challenge
A homeowner living in Chebeague Island, ME had been living with some moisture problems in their crawlspace. Water would regularly leak into space during rainfall. With no vapor barrier in place, the crawlspace was susceptible to any moisture in the surrounding soil entering. To put an end to this leakage, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the job!
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the crawlspace right away. To give the space a proper barrier to hold back the moisture, we started by laying a Drainage Matting across the floor. This mat sits just off the surface of the floor, where it holds the moisture beneath itself. This allows the water to flow and find the best place to drain away back into the ground without allowing this moisture to enter the air within the space. On top of this, we encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace liner. This liner is made up of a thin plastic sheet which covers the floor as well as the walls of the crawlspace. This completed the vapor barrier, forming a solid defense against inbound moisture.
With their new barrier installed, this homeowner no longer needs to worry about any moisture problems taking root in their crawlspace. The CleanSpace & Drainage Matting will keep the interior of this space dry for years to come!
