Vapor Barrier Saves North Haven, ME Crawlspace From Moisture
Challenge
A homeowner living in North Haven, ME had noticed that there was a musty smell coming from their crawlspace lately. This smell was due to moisture leaking into space, which was a sign of mold growth. Concerned this moisture problem might become more serious with time, the homeowner sought a solution online. After finding TC Hafford Basement Systems, the homeowner called us right away to have us take care of the problem.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work right away installing a vapor barrier to protect this crawlspace from future leaks. Two parts were used to form this vapor barrier. The first was a Drainage Matting laid across the floor of the crawlspace. This matting sits just above the surface of the floor where it keeps moisture beneath itself. This allows the water to flow and find the best way to drain back into the ground without being able to enter the atmosphere of the space. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace. This completes the vapor barrier, sealing out any unwanted moisture from entering the interior of this crawlspace where it would cause more problems for the homeowner.
With their new vapor barrier in place, this homeowner can now rest assured the space beneath their home will remain safe from water damage. The CleanSpace & Drainage Matting combination will make sure of that.
