Vapor Barrier Seals Leakage in Freedom, ME Crawlspace
Challenge
A couple living in Freedom, ME were starting to notice a musty smell in their home. After locating the source of the smell in the damp crawlspace, the couple realized they needed to waterproof the space to prevent things such as mold from growing beneath their home. After searching online, they discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems. They gave us a call and we were on the job!
Solution
Once our industry leading installation crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work right away on the crawlspace. To begin the installation of a vapor barrier to keep out future moisture, a Drainage Matting was laid across the floor of the crawlspace. This mat sits just above the surface of the floor to allow water trapped beneath it to flow and find the best place to drain away back into the soil. Over the top of this Drainage Matting, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace. This line is made up of a thin plastic sheet. This locks out moisture from leaking in through the walls or floor. This vapor barrier will ensure the crawlspace sees no future moisture problems.
With their new vapor barrier in place, this couple should notice the musty smell fade. The Drainage Matting & CleanSpace combination will keep the interior of this crawlspace dry for many years to come!
