Vapor Barrier Keeps Vinalhaven, ME Crawlspace Safe From Water
Challenge
A homeowner in Vinalhaven was recently noticing a musty smell throughout their home. This smell, they found, was originating from their damp crawlspace beneath the home. This was a problem the homeowner needed taken care of right away. To get the job done right, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we set them up with a free estimate!
Solution
After the homeowner decided to have the work done, our installation crew was dispatched to the home to stop the leaking moisture. To do this, a proper vapor barrier was needed within the space. This started with a Drainage Matting being laid across the floor. This matting sits off the surface of the floor where it will keep moisture trapped beneath itself. This moisture can still move across the surface of the floor, however, so that it can still drain away through the floor. Finally, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the space. This plastic sheet covers all of the walls as well as the floor, locking out future leaks, completely sealing off the crawlspace from the outside.
With their new vapor barrier in place, this homeowner will no longer experience a musty smell. No future moisture problems should take root in this crawlspace thanks to the CleanSpace barrier.
