Edgecomb, ME Crawlspace Kept Dry With Proper Vapor Barrier Installation
Challenge
An Edgecomb, ME homeowner had a problem they were looking to solve. The crawl space beneath their home would always take on water during rainfall. This wasn’t directly affecting the homeowner until the musty smell started to emanate throughout their home. Not wanting to live with this smell, the homeowner knew something had to be done. After hearing about us from a friend, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to have this problem addressed.
Solution
Once our industry-leading installation crew arrived at the home, they began to work right away on the crawlspace. To start the vapor barrier, a Drainage Matting was laid across the floor of the space. This mat sits just off the surface of the floor, so that water beneath it can flow to find a place to drain away through the ground while not being able to enter the atmosphere of the crawlspace. To complete the vapor barrier, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace interior. This lined the walls and the floor of the space with a thin plastic sheet which locks out any potential moisture that would have leaked in. This completed vapor barrier will now eliminate the moisture problems this homeowner was experiencing.
With their vapor barrier in place, the musty smell this homeowner was dealing with will soon become a thing of the past, fading away without any moisture to sustain it. This vapor barrier will keep this crawlspace dry for many years to come!
