Crawlspace in Sangerville, ME Receives Proper Vapor Barrier

Challenge

A homeowner in Sangerville, ME had been living with a damp crawlspace beneath their home for quite some time. This dampness was beginning to cause a problem though, emitting a smell up into the home where it was affecting the homeowner. Tired of living with this musty smell coming from beneath their home, the homeowner decided it was time to put their foot down. To have the problem addressed properly, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

To put an end to the moisture problem in this crawlspace, the outside moisture would need to be blocked out. Once our installation crew arrived, they began work on installing a vapor barrier to do just that. First, a Drainage Matting was laid across the floor of the space. This sits just off the surface, allowing accumulated water beneath itself to find a proper place to drain away through the ground while not being allowed to reach the air of the space. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace. This covered all of the walls, as well as the floor, completely locking out future leaks. This created a fully functional vapor barrier within the space to keep water out.

With their newly installed vapor barrier, this homeowner will no longer experience any moisture problems such as the musty smell. The Drainage Matting & CleanSpace combination will keep this crawlspace dry for many years into the future!
