Vapor Barrier Protects Newcastle, ME Crawlspace From Moisture Problems
Challenge
A homeowner in Newcastle, ME had been living with a damp crawlspace for a few months. Unsure how to remedy the problem on their own, the homeowner sought solutions. After being recommended TC Hafford Basement Systems, the homeowner gave us a call and we were on the job!
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the crawlspace right away. To stop outside moisture from leaking into the home, we needed to put a vapor barrier down. This began with a Drainage Matting being laid across the floor of the crawlspace. The Drainage Matting sits just off the floor, allow water to flow to where is easiest for drainage, while keeping the moisture from entering the atmosphere of the space. Over the top of this, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace liner. This liner, composed of a thin plastic, completely locks out outside moisture, preventing future leaks to ever reach the interior of the space.
With the completed vapor barrier in place, this homeowners’ moisture problem is now a thing of the past. No moisture will be leaking in passed this vapor barrier for many years to come!
