South China, ME Crawlspace Waterproofed
Challenge
A homeowner in South China, ME had been struggling with a damp crawlspace. With dirt surroundings, it was inevitable that the space would become damp from rainwater leaking in. This dampness could lead to several problems for the homeowner, which they wanted to avoid. To have the space waterproofed before these problems occurred, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
As soon as the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home they were down in the crawlspace getting started on the waterproofing. To keep the interior of the space free of moisture, we laid a Drainage Matting across the floor. This mat holds itself slightly off the floor, allowing any water on the floor to flow to find a space to drain away back into the ground. No moisture is allowed to pass from the floor to the air now with the mat in place. Over the top of this, we encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace liner. This liner is composed of a thin plastic sheet which completely seals out any moisture. Now no more water will be entering the crawlspace to cause the damp conditions to worsen.
With their new vapor barrier in place, the damp basement this homeowner was concerned about will no longer be a problem. Without moisture having access to the crawlspace, the space will dry very soon and remain dry.
