Damp Harpswell, ME Crawlspace Dried With CleanSpace Liner
Challenge
A homeowner in Harpswell, ME had been having an issue with his crawlspace. With water leaking in from the surrounding soil, a musty smell was beginning to spread into the home. This unpleasant smell was not something the homeowner was about to tolerate. To get the moisture problem dealt with right away, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Our installation crew began work on the crawlspace right away. They began by installing a SmartSump sump pump in the floor of the space. This sump will take in any standing water from the surface of the crawlspace floor and remove it from the home through a PVC discharge line. Next, we laid a Drainage Matting across the floor of the crawlspace. This mat has space beneath itself and the floor, preventing water from entering the atmosphere of the space while allowing the water to flow to a point where it can drain away through the ground or the sump.
Over the top of the Drainage Matting, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace liner. This liner is made up of a thin plastic sheet which completely locks out any moisture attempting to leak in through the walls or passed the Drainage Matting. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier to deal with the existing moisture within the atmosphere of the crawlspace. This collected moisture is then passed to the sump for removal.
This new system installed in the crawlspace of this Harpswell, ME home will maintain a dry atmosphere. This homeowner will no longer need to suffer from an unpleasant smell, or any moisture problems.
