CleanSpace Liner Protects New Gloucester, ME Home from Moisture Problem

Challenge

A homeowner in New Gloucester, ME had a crawlspace which was almost always damp. These conditions were perfect for mold growth and were beginning to show signs with a musty smell coming from the space. To put an end to this before the problem got worse, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

With dirt surroundings, water could easily enter this crawlspace, which is what the TC Hafford installation crew aimed to fix before they were done. To start, a Drainage Matting was laid across the floor of the crawlspace. This mat keeps space between itself and the floor, holding any moisture beneath itself, while enabling the water the chance to find a drainage point back into the soil. Next, the space was encapsulated with a CleanSpace liner. This liner completely locks out any moisture that would have otherwise leaked into the interior of the space, via the floor or walls. This eliminates any possible mold problem that would have been caused by the water.

With their new vapor barrier in place, this homeowner now owns a perfectly dry crawlspace, free of moisture. Any mold that was beginning to grow will soon die off without the moisture to support life.
