East Orland, ME Crawlspace Protected From Moisture With CleanSpace
Challenge
A leaking crawlspace in East Orland, ME was giving a homeowner some trouble. With a musty smell spreading from the space, the homeowner wanted the water dealt with fast. To have the space waterproofed, and their problems ended, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
As soon as our crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work. Due to the lack of a barrier in the crawlspace, the solution to this homeowners’ problem was simple. We began the installation of a vapor barrier by laying a Drainage Matting across the floor of the crawlspace. This matting holds moisture beneath itself, not allowing it to enter the atmosphere within the space. There is room beneath the matting which allows the water to continue to flow across the floor to find a way to drain out and away from the space without causing any further trouble.
With the first half of the vapor barrier down, our crew then needed to install one final piece to finish the job. They then encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace liner. This liner is a thin sheet of plastic which covers all of the outward surfaces within the crawlspace. This completely locks out any moisture that would have otherwise leaked into the interior of the space. This will ensure the crawlspace remains dry and the air within it healthy.
With a proper vapor barrier in place, the smell that had been emanating from the crawlspace will be eliminated. With the CleanSpace installed, this homeowner will have a dry crawlspace for many years to come!
