Mold Problem In Cutler, ME Cleaned Up With Mold-X
Challenge
A homeowner in Cutler, ME with a mold problem in their crawlspace was in desperate need of professional help. Water would easily enter their crawlspace, and this moisture was allowing mold to spread easily throughout the space. To put an end to this problem, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our crew arrived, they were able to begin work in the space soon after a preliminary investigation. Because the mold had already begun to spread throughout the crawlspace, we first needed to deal with this before dealing with the moisture problem. To do this, the crew coated the moldy surfaces with Mold-X. This compound helps to kill the mold and prevents it from spreading further. This will ensure once the crawlspace is waterproofed, this mold won’t continue to live.
Next, to begin the waterproofing process, the crew installed a vapor barrier. The dirt surroundings were an easy entry point for moisture. To stop this water, we laid a Drainage Matting across the floor. This mat holds moisture beneath itself, giving it room to drain away back into the ground. Finally, a CleanSpace sheet was used to encapsulate the crawlspace. This sheet is made of a thin plastic that completely locks out moisture. Now the interior of this crawlspace will no longer collect any moisture, on the floor or in the air.
With their new vapor barrier in place, and the Mold-X applied, this homeowner no longer needs to put up with the nasty smell coming from their crawlspace. Thanks to the CleanSpace, this problem should never happen again in this home!
