Bowing Basement Walls Saved With Proper Supports In Smithfield, ME
Challenge
A pair of homeowners in Smithfield, ME had noticed their basement walls were beginning to bow inward. This could eventually lead to a collapse, so they immediately searched for ways to have it fixed. After some research, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the job done!
Solution
Once our crew arrived at the home they began work on the basement wall right away. To help maintain the structure of the wall, we first wanted to repair any damage to the structure. To do this, we applied ShotLock to the wall. This is a material that increases the strength of the walls, as well as making them waterproof. The ShotLock is guaranteed for up to 25 years, which will save these homeowners money for many years to come.
Next, we needed to put the bowing wall back into place. To do this, we installed 8’ PowerBrace beams along the wall. These beams are fixed on their bottom to the floor against the wall, while the top side is rigged into the wall with adjustable screws. These screws are then slowly tightened to pull the wall back into place over time. Eventually returning the bent wall back to its original position.
With their walls sealed up and locked back into place, a cave-in is no longer a worry these homeowners need to be concerned with! The ShotLock and PowerBrace will keep this basement safe well into the future.
