Boothbay Harbor, ME Crawlspace Waterproofed With CleanSpace
Challenge
A homeowner in Boothbay Harbor, ME would regularly find their crawlspace to be extremely damp after rain fall. This being a problem for the homeowner, they needed something done about it. To have the space waterproofed, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
To prevent the water from having a negative affect of the crawlspace, we needed to keep the water from reaching the atmosphere of the space. To do this, we began by installing a SmartSump sump pump to give the water a place to exit through. Once inside the sump, any water will be pumped up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Next, to prevent any water on the floor from reaching the air, we encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace liner. The CleanSpace covers all of the walls and the floor, completely locking out moisture. Now any water leaking in will be forced to exit either back into the soil or through the sump.
Following the discharge line outside, we made a few additions to help keep everything running smoothly. The first was an IceGuard pipe section, which is a special pipe that has built-in holes. This pipe sits just outside the home, only allowing water through the holes if the lower end of the line is blocked by ice or other debris. This prevents an overflow in the sump. Finally, we added a LawnScape discharge point on the end of the line. This is where the water exits, back into the soil a safe distance from the home.
With their waterproofing in place, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about moisture problems in their crawlspace. They will now have a dry space beneath their home!
