Pittsfield, ME Crawlspace Protected By CleanSpace
Challenge
A wet crawlspace ailed this homeowner in Pittsfield, ME. Not wanting to deal with this moisture any longer, they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems. We took a look at the crawlspace, and then we got started!
Solution
What was needed to keep the moisture out was a vapor barrier. Being a dirt crawlspace, there was nothing holding back the water in the soil. We began the fix by laying a Drainage Matting down within the crawlspace. This matting will hold the moisture between itself and the floor. The water will then drain away back into the soil over time. This is the first layer of the vapor barrier being installed within this crawlspace.
We then encapsulated the entire space with a CleanSpace liner. This liner will lock out moisture trying to enter the basement. Most of the moisture entering the crawlspace will be stopped by the CleanSpace, and if it manages to leak in between, the Drainage Matting comes into play. We then finished the project by installing a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. This will take in the moisture from the air, and remove it from the crawlspace. Now any water that would have otherwise invaded this crawlspace, will be removed one way or another!
With their new vapor barrier in place, this homeowner no longer needs to worry about any moisture build up! No water will be able to invade this crawlspace any longer.
