Alton, NH Crawlspace Protected By CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
Challenge
A wet crawlspace was causing an Alton, NH homeowner some trouble. Without a vapor barrier in place, any water in the surrounding soil could easily enter the space. They contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems and we got to work solving their wet crawlspace problem!
Solution
To stop the moisture from gathering in pools on the floor of the crawlspace, we needed to lay down a proper vapor barrier. We began by laying a Drainage Matting on the floor, covering the ground. The Drainage Matting server the function of holding water back for long enough to allow it to drain away back into the soil at the lowest point. We then encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner is made of a durable thin plastic which seals the interior of the space off from outside moisture. These two layers will lock out almost all moisture trying to leak in from the outside.
Next, we needed to address the moisture currently in the air within the crawlspace. The moisture lingering in the atmosphere may still be enough to sustain any mold growth. To eliminate this problem, we needed to remove the moisture from the air. We completed this task by installing a SaniDry XP dehumidifier in the crawlspace. This device takes in the moist air, and outputs dry air. Now not only will the floor remain dry, but the atmosphere will also be moisture free.
This homeowner can now rest assured their moisture problems are a thing of the past. No more mold growth, or flooding for this Alton, NH crawlspace!
