Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Summer Home Plagued by High Moisture

This Northeast Harbor, ME, summer home has had an issue with high moisture in it’s crawl space for the past couple of years. The homeowner was worried about mold coming into the living space, causing costly repairs and creating unhealthy living conditions for the family. The homeowner wanted to get the problem solved as fast as possible, so they booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. The area was first prepped by regrading the ground to create a smooth base. The crawl space needed to be encapsulated to seal up the area and keep moisture out, so CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting was laid down to create a gap that allows water to be channeled to the sump pump and works to protect the CleanSpace. CleanSpace was installed on top of the Drainage Matting and was attached to the crawl space walls to seal up the area. CleanSpace is a durable vapor barrier that keeps moisture and critters out, reducing mold and creating the perfect space for storage. A Sump Liner was installed so a sump can be added in the future if needed without having to modify the encapsulation system. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed, and with the addition of a Condensate Pump, the homeowner never has to go into the basement to empty a bucket and the humidity will be kept at a safe level year-round. The home is now fully protected against moisture, and the homeowner will no longer have to worry about mold-causing issues in their summer home.
