WaterGuard Piping Protects Dover Foxcroft, ME Basement from Moisture
Challenge
A homeowner who lived in Dover Foxcroft, ME was living with a problem. Water had been leaking into their basement through the surrounding concrete foundation. This moisture was causing the homeowner problems and needed to be dealt with. After some research online, the homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to take a look. The homeowner received their free estimate and then we began work on the home!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement floor right away by digging out a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. Within this trench, our WaterGuard piping was laid, surrounding the basement floor. These pipes have special holes running the length of the bottom edge, allowing any leaking moisture to enter the pipes before reaching the surface of the floor. Once the pipes are buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, any incoming water will be redirected to the sump to be removed from the basement before causing flooding beneath the home.
To keep up with the increased concentration of water in the sump, a sump pump needed to be installed. We installed a SuperSump sump pump to handle this. The SuperSump can remove up to 2,650 gallons of water from the home every hour. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The water will follow this line away from the home where it will be discharged onto other lawn to harmlessly drain away without causing further damage to the home.
With their new waterproofing in place, this homeowner now has peace of mind during any heavy rainfall. The WaterGuard & SuperSump combination will keep this basement water-free for years to come!
