SuperSump Installation Keeps Jay, ME Basement Water-Free
Challenge
A homeowner living in Jay, ME owned a basement which would regularly take on moisture during any rainfall. Even with a sump in their basement floor, the rainwater would still occasionally overwhelm the sump and flood the basement. Seeking proper waterproofing, the homeowner looked online for a solution. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and called us right away to have their moisture problem put to rest.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the waterproofing right away. To keep up with the amount of water needing to be removed from this home, a SuperSump sump pump was installed in this basement floor. This pump will have a much easier time keeping up with the water entering this basement than the sump alone. The SuperSump can remove up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This water is forced up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line.
Following the discharge line outside, we made two additions to the line before we were done. The first of these additions was an IceGuard pipe segment. This piece was attached just beyond where the line exits the home and is made with special angled holes. These holes will not affect the water exiting the home unless ice or other debris blocks the line. If this occurs, the trapped water will be able to escape the line through the IceGuard before backing up and overflowing the sump. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was attached to the end of the line. The water leaving the home flows onto the lawn through this piece, draining away harmlessly into the ground.
With their new waterproofing products in place, this homeowner will no longer need to deal with a flooding basement after any rainfall. The SuperSump pump will keep this basement floor water-free for years to come!
