FlexiSpan Seal Maintains Dry Gardiner, ME Basement
Challenge
A homeowner who was living in Gardiner, ME had recently found a crack had opened across one of their concrete basement walls. Any moisture in the surrounding earth could easily leak into the basement through this crack, causing puddles to form on the basement floor. Needing this crack sealed before the moisture problem got worse, the homeowner contacted us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. We gave the homeowner a free estimate on the projected work and then we got to work shortly after!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, the first step in sealing moisture out of this crack was to brush it clear of any debris using a coarse brush. Once clear, the installation of a FlexiSpan seal could begin. This starts with a preliminary coating of sealant being applied within the crack itself. This was then covered over with a foam matting, running the length of the crack. The foam gives the FlexiSpan its flexible nature that the name suggests, enabling the finished seal to bend to any slight shifting in the shape of the crack over time. Finally, a second layer of sealant was applied over the top of the foam matting. This locks the structure in place, completely sealing out potential future leakages.
Now this homeowner no longer needs to worry about the crack in their basement wall causing problems. The FlexiSpan seal will keep moisture from entering through this crack for many years to come!
