Vapor Barrier Installation Protects New Gloucester, ME Crawlspace from Moisture Troubles
Challenge
A homeowner living in New Gloucester, ME had recently begun to notice a musty smell coming from their crawlspace. With water leaking into the space during any rainfall, the homeowner needed a way to keep the moisture from entering the space. After seeing a commercial for TC Hafford Basement Systems, they gave us a call to receive their free estimate. Once they decided to get the work done, we dispatched our crew!
Solution
As soon as the installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the crawlspace right away. A Drainage Matting was laid across the floor of the space. This mat covers the floor, sitting just above the surface to allow for water beneath to flow to where it will drain out of the home without entering the atmosphere of the space. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace, covering all of the walls as well as the floor in a thin plastic sheet. With the CleanSpace in place, no more moisture will be able to slip into the interior of this crawlspace.
With their new vapor barrier installed, this homeowner should notice the musty smell leave their home soon. The CleanSpace barrier will completely lock out future leakages.
