WaterGuard Piping Protects Cumberland Center, ME Basement from Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner living in Cumberland Center, ME was having trouble with their basement. They had a sump pump in their concrete basement floor, but water leaking in all around this basement floor, as well as from under a door leading outside was creating lingering puddles. Seeking to have this problem fixed before it led to any long-term moisture troubles, the homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. We set them up with their free estimate and then got to work!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the floor by excavating a shallow trench around the perimeter of the floor. They then laid WaterGuard piping down within this trench. Where the pipe crosses beneath the doorframe a TrenchDrain pipe segment was used. This piece of pipe has a grated surface which will sit level with the floor to capture any moisture leaking beneath the door in the future. This WaterGuard piping was connected to the sump and then buried beneath a fresh coat of concrete, leaving only the TrenchDrain exposed. The WaterGuard piping will act to capture moisture leaking in directly through the concrete foundation, leading all of the collected water to the sump to be removed from the home without ever reaching the basement floor surface.
This homeowner can now rest assured their basement will no longer be found with standing water after any rainfall. The WaterGuard piping will maintain a dry basement floor for years to come.
